Story: Hello Heartbreaker
I shook my head at her. “I hate you.”
Ignoring me, she said, “Good luck at your game tonight... Yes, we will. Bye!”
She hung up, grinning over at me. “He says to text him when you get there.”
“I hate you both,” I grumped.
A new text came through my phone.
Rhett: You need to work on your poker face.

Five hours, two playlists, and one gas station stop later, we turned off the highway onto a winding dirt road outside of Austin. I’d never been to this part of Texas, and I could tell why, judging by the mega mansions with beautifully landscaped driveways we passed every so often.
Seeing me stare out the window like a kid in the candy store, Cam said, “Shelley always did have expensive taste.”
“This is like golden underwear taste.”
“Is that a thing?” she asked.
I shrugged. “Hell if I know.”
The GPS on her car started glitching. “Shit,” she muttered.
“Do you need my maps?” I asked, pulling up my phone. And then I realized... “I don’t have service out here.”
“Crap.” She frowned, slowing on the winding road.
“How the hell do all these rich people live here without demanding a cell tower?” I asked.
“They probably have butlers sitting in their passenger seats telling them where to go because the GPS voice is grating.” She laughed, still driving slowly. “Or better yet, drivers to take them there. Should we turn back to town and see if we can memorize the directions?”
I frowned, looking around. We’d been driving on these windy roads for a good forty-five minutes, and it was already dark. “I guess we don’t have another choice...”
She nodded, pulling the car alongside the road. “Just have to wait for these people to pass.”
I twisted to see the car passing and caught sight of a bright pink SUV.
“JESSICA!” I yelled. “That has to be her!”
Cam honked the horn, following her, and the SUV slowed. The window rolled down, revealing our pink-obsessed friend Jessica.
“Cam! Mags! It’s been a month, and I miss you bitches like crazy!”
Cam and I laughed, and Cam said, “Good thing we have this weekend to hang out. Do you have any clue where we’re going?”
Jess nodded. “Follow me?”
“Thank you!” Cam and I yelled through the window. As Cam rolled up the window and pulled onto the road after Jess, she teased, “Guess you did get lucky after all.”
My mouth fell open as my cheeks flushed. “I didn’t tell him to send me those texts!”
“Yeah, sure, you didn’t like it at all.” She sent me a knowing smile.
“Okay, the messages were kind of hot.”
“When are you going to admit you’re crazy about him too?” she asked.
Ignoring me, she said, “Good luck at your game tonight... Yes, we will. Bye!”
