Story: Gather the Storm
Jace wanted me to eat the danish? I was going to eat the danish.
I took a drink of my coffee, then shoved the rest of it into my mouth all at once. It barely fit, but I did it anyway, staring at Jace the whole time, then moaning when I had it all in.
“Mmmmmm,” I said around the delicious pastry. “Sooooo good…”
No one moved a muscle while I finished chewing. Then I took another drink of my coffee and smiled at Jace.
“Thanks,” I said. “Nothing like a mouthful of dough in the morning.”
Otis shifted, adjusting his dick in his jeans, and Wolf chuckled as he ran his thumb over his lip.
“Fuck me,” Wolf said.
“Fuckyou,” Jace said, hurling the words at me like a weapon.
He stood and stalked from the room, leaving me feeling satisfied, and weirdly, a little sad.

Daisy
“That was a fun start to the morning,” Wolf said.
“Blame him,” I grumbled. I took another drink of coffee, then realized that my stomach actually felt better after the danish, proof that even a broken clock was right twice a day, Jace being the broken clock.
“He’s a next-level asshole,” Wolf said. “But honestly, sunshine? You seem to enjoy bringing it out in him.”
I couldn’t deny it, although why I found it entertaining to push Jace’s buttons was beyond me. I heard Wolf’s voice in my head:there’s a thin line between love and hate, sunshine.
Except I was light-years away from loving Jace Kane.
Hating him just came naturally, and apparently the feeling was mutual.
“Unlike Wolf, I didn’t find that fun,” Otis said. “But here’s something that is.”
He pushed a box toward me and I saw that it was a brand-new phone.
“What’s this?”
“A phone,” Otis said. “A new one.”
“I can see that, but why are you giving it to me?”
“We got new ones for ourselves,” Otis said. “Thought we’d pick one up for you too.”
“I already have a phone,” I said.
“Consider it a thank-you,” Wolf said, taking the seat next to me at the kitchen table.
“For what?” It was an honest question. So far the Beasts had helped me with the reno, run interference on my stalker package, and rescued me from being raped by my boss’ son. “Unless my math is wrong, I think I’m the one who should be thanking you.”
“You were right,” Wolf said. “About this being a good place to regroup. You’re putting us up here, feeding us…” He shrugged. “We just want to say thank you.”
I picked up the box because it seemed rude not to.
“I already migrated your data,” Otis said, still looking at his phone.
“What? When?” I asked, feeling weird that he’d been in my phone. I hoped he hadn’t seen all of Sarai’s messages suggesting I use the Beasts to divest myself of my cumbersome virginity.
