fast asleep, curled around her. Their legs were twisted together. Her arm

was thrown protectively around Kiera. Had they slept that way all night?

She actually didn’t remember even falling asleep. She hadn’t slept so

deeply since…since the last time she’d spent the night with Romi.

This time, there was none of the panic that accompanied waking up the

first time they’d fallen asleep together. This time, Kiera let herself slowly

extricate her legs from Romi’s, just so she could stretch out the cramped

muscles. She sighed with the sheer bliss of extending her legs fully after

they’d been curled for hours. Her muscles protested, but after a few

seconds, they relaxed and obeyed her commands.

Romi stayed blissfully asleep. Kiera watched the sunlight play over her

face, highlighting her sharp cheekbones, her long lashes, and her full lips.

She couldn’t stop herself from reaching out and brushing back a silky strand

of the jet black hair that had fallen across Romi’s cheek. Romi’s hair was so

black that the sunlight actually illuminated some strands that were almost

blue.

“Ordinary,” Kiera whispered under her breath. “I can’t believe you’d

even use that word. You’re so far from ordinary. You make me dream about

all the things that could be possible. Things I never thought I’d be brave

enough to do or could ever have. You’re anything but ordinary.”

Romi didn’t stir. Kiera wanted to lay in bed and just savor the fact that

neither of them had anywhere to be. This was their time. It might have only

been a few weeks since they’d met, but Kiera felt a strange certainty that

she’d never felt before. She just knew Romi was it. There would never be

anyone like her. Meeting her, being with her, making love to her, waking up

beside her, it just felt so natural.

Kiera could have stayed like that for hours, just watching Romi sleep,

listening to her even breaths, but her stomach twisted with hunger and let

out a painful growl. She was reminded that they’d never had their dinner
