CHAPTERFOURTEEN
Sebastian
Ididn’t intend on falling asleep with her in my arms, but the second her breathing evened out, my jet lag seemed to slam into me like a truck, and it was all I could do to keep my eyes open and watch her.
Squeezing her a little tighter, I dropped my lips to the top of her head and kissed her hair.
The next thing I know, the hot body that’s wrapped around me tries to discreetly slip from my arms.
A chuckle rumbles up my throat as my arms tighten around her.
“I don’t think so, Hellion.”
“I need to pee.”
Dragging my eyes open, I stare up at her, my breath catching in my throat.
Fuck, she’s beautiful.
“If you run, I’ll chase you.”
Sitting on the edge of the bed, she releases a sigh and glances back over her shoulder at me. Disbelief floods her face as she chews on her bottom lip, deep in thought.
All the things I want to say to her get stuck on the tip of my tongue as I remember how she reacted to me earlier.
The past few weeks, seeing her lying beside my dad’s grave was something of a wakeup call for me. It’s allowed me to reevaluate how I feel about this thing between us, about her. It seems she’s not had similar reflections where I’m concerned.
Ripping her eyes away from mine, she shakes her head as she pushes from the bed and makes her way to the door.
My eyes track down her body that’s covered in my shirt, and then to her bare, shapely legs sticking out of the bottom.
“I can feel you staring,” she mutters before disappearing from the room.
“That’s because I am. You look good in my clothes, Princess.”
I swear I hear her murmur, “Not as good as you look in none.”
I lie there, listening to her moving around, and the toilet flushes before the water runs.
My need to march in there and drag her into the shower with me is strong, but I manage to push it aside. It’s helped when the door opens and her footsteps get closer once more.
Only, she doesn’t come back. She walks straight past.
Afraid she’s going to try to give me the slip, I throw the sheets back and pull my boxers up my legs once more.
“What are you—oh,” I breathe when I find her leaning back against the counter beside the coffee machine, her bare legs still on show, my shirt sitting high on her thighs and her arms crossed under her breasts.
“Coffee?” she asks, her eyes tracking down my naked chest.
“Please.”
Despite the fact that she’s giving off ‘don’t come anywhere near me’ vibes, I do the complete opposite and step right up to her, sliding my hand around the side of her neck.
Her pulse thunders beneath my fingers, showing me just how much my presence affects her.
“Helli—”
“Don’t,” she breathes. “Please don’t.”
