He comes back out a second later, a frown on his face. ‘There’s no bath.’

‘What?’ Krase’s anger is palpable.

‘Just a shower.’

Krase’s face twists, and without another word, he exits the fold, taking Jules with him.

Iron and I share a look. This won’t go down well with Maddox.

Krase carries me out of the fold, and we appear in the hallway upstairs. I’m looking around in slight alarm, and I watch him glare at the camera that’s pointed right at us.

I frown at him. ‘Is this for me, or are you just trying to piss Maddox off?’ I wonder aloud.

He smirks at me, and I watch as the black leaches out of his eyes as we walk down the hall to his room.

‘Krase?’ I ask.

He blinks and crushes me to him. ‘I’m sorry,’ he says. ‘It’s been too long since we fed. He didn’t want to follow the rules we decided on anymore.’

‘Rules?’

‘Aye. He’s allowed control when he likes, but so am I. We were waiting for Jayce to come back, but he got … impatient. He didn’t hurt you, did he?’

I shake my head. ‘No, he didn’t hurt me.’

He sighs with relief. ‘I didn’t think he would, but I just wanted to make sure.’

He takes me into his room and puts me on my feet in the bathroom.

‘I can just shower,’ I venture, but he just frowns at me.

‘Okay,’ I acquiesce, ‘but it can’t be too hot, and I can’t stay in it long.’
