Page 37 of Unwrapping Chase

“You’re from Terra?” Tam demanded before I could reply.

I tried to curl away, but Nyx held my legs firmly, and Tam stopped me with a hand on my chin. They gave me a gentle kiss. “What’s wrong?”

“It’s not a happy story,” I whispered. A lot of mine weren’t. Also, I had made so many wrong choices that had upended mylife. Though I couldn’t hate all of those choices because they had led right here, with Tam and Nyx.

“You don’t have to tell us, boy,” Nyx said, kissing the arch of my foot and sending sparks up my leg to my cock.

I swallowed. “Why do you want to know?”

Tam’s hold on me tightened. “I want to know because there should be no secrets or mysteries between us, Chase.”

“I want to know you,” Nyx replied quietly, his eyes not meeting mine.

My mouth went dry, and my eyes moistened as I looked between the two of them. How did they care so much when they barely knew me? The only person in my life who even came close to caring about me this much was Jared, and he was my brother. I cleared my throat. I guessed they should know the truth, but I was afraid I’d bare my soul and they would leave me behind. I didn’t want to be abandoned.

Like they could sense my rolling emotions, Tam kissed me hard. They slicked their tongue over mine. “We are right here beside you.”

Taking a huge breath, I said, “I didn’t have a choice.”

“What do you mean?” Nyx asked, massaging my feet and ignoring the half-painted nails. “You don’t look like the criminal type.”

“Not that it would matter,” Tam piped up.

“It doesn’t,” Nyx assured me as well.

I didn’t know what he thought a criminal looked like, but I didn’t say that. “My parents always wanted to leave Terra, but it’s hard, very hard. Most Terrans don’t have money in the traditional Alliance credits, but rather barter for things. So when they had Jared and then, much later, me, they always planned to get us off Terra. Jared didn’t want to go, and neither did I. He refused when they told him of their plan. He was in love with a woman there on Terra. He was going to marry her.”

“What happened?” Tam asked, running their fingers over my face.

“A lot of stuff is illegal on Terra, mainly tech stuff. Everyone is very focused on rebuilding the planet and caring for it,” I tried to explain. Terra was an interesting place now, mainly untamed wilds that were slowly growing. “My parents framed Jared for bringing an illegal fount dispenser onto the planet. Founts, while convenient, are highly illegal on Terra. Jared was exiled, which means he was dumped on the Alliance station orbiting Terra with no money or supplies.”

“And you, boy?” Nyx asked.

I fought back the tears that wanted to form. “My parents said they didn’t want me and sent me with him. I was ten and Jared was twenty.”

Tam made a distressed cry and pressed frantic kisses over my face.

“They didn’t want you?” Nyx asked as if he couldn’t understand the concept.

“I thought they were lying, but two years later, I managed to call them and begged them to let me come home. Jared was always working, trying to keep us alive, and I was lonely. But when I talked to them, my mother told me she never wanted me or Jared, and my dad said that they were happier before us and now after us,” I whispered. It had been a blow I wasn’t sure that I’d ever recovered from.

Nyx was lying on top of me before I could blink, and Tam was squeezing me tight. Lips found mine, and I wasn’t sure who was kissing me, but I melted into it. One set was traded for another. I wrapped my arms around Nyx and Tam, falling into their warmth and support. Moaning, I dragged my fingers over Nyx’s back and buried my fingers in Tam’s hair.

Tam pulled back and said, “They were wrong. You are so lovely and wanted.”

I wasn’t, though. Jared loved me, but I wasn’t sure he actually liked me. I was always relying on him.

“I want you,” they said in a voice that brooked no argument.

Nyx kissed my forehead. “You are special, Chase.”

My heart cracked. How did Tam and Nyx know how to say exactly what I needed to hear?

Both of them trailed kisses over my face and held me securely between their bodies. Never had I felt so safe or loved in my entire life.

“Don’t leave,” I begged, knowing I had no right to. This relationship had been contracted. I couldn’t ask for more, no matter how right this felt with them.

“Where would we go?” Tam asked, nuzzling my neck. “We aren’t going anywhere.”
