“Yes,” I answered resignedly.

“Why’s he in our kitchen?”

“He slept over.”

“He slept—” Jesse threw his hands up. “Does anyone else want to come out? First Nate. Now Mark. Is someone running some fucking crazy effective psy-ops experiment in that frat? Sam?”

Sam reached around Jesse, grabbed a juice from the fridge, and twisted off the cap. “I’m all set. I sucked a guy’s dick once on a dare. Haven’t been inclined to do it again.” We all stared at Sam as he chugged his juice and then wiped the back of his mouth. “What, did I fuck up? Break some sort of code?”

“You sucked a guy’s dick on a dare?” Jesse’s expression grew more incredulous. “To completion?”

“Rimshot!” Sam pumped a fist in the air as his empty juice bottle arced into the trash can, then he turned back to Jesse, nodding. “Yeah, turned me into a manscaping convert. And I also make sure to eat a lot of pineapple now, too, if I know I’m gonna get some action.” He leaned back against the counter and eyed Jesse. “So are you making breakfast today?”

“Not for you. Not for any of you.Ugh!”

“So these are my roommates,” I said with a mock flourish. “Well, except for Ansel.”

“He’s basically a ghost.”

“Very devoted to track team,” I explained, then bumped Jesse to one side. “Move over. I’m making eggs.”

“That’s what I’m talking about.” Sam grinned happily. “I’ve got practice in an hour. Make enough for me?”

“And me, too.” Jesse batted his lashes at me. “I’m grabbing a shower.”

“Fine.” I extended my hand and Chet reached into the fridge to hand me the whole carton of eggs.

“So that went okay, I guess,” he murmured, coming up behind me after everyone was gone and wrapping his arms around my waist, chin resting on my shoulder.

“All things considered, that’s probably the easiest we’ll have it for a while.” I flipped an egg over and then angled my head to kiss him. “You have a shift tonight?”

“And tomorrow night, too.”

“Nothing during the day?”

“Nope.”

“Okay, good. You’re allowed to leave for work and that’s it.” I plated a few eggs and started on the next round.

“Demanding, but I’ll comply.” Chet slid a hand behind my waistband and trailed his finger down my crack. I clamped my teeth against a groan for the very real reminder of him pounding into me last night. “Sore?” he asked, gentling his touch until I pushed back against the light pressure.

“Not enough to stop me. I’ve got the only en suite in this house, and I plan on doing every dirty thing I can think of to you in the shower right after breakfast.”

“You can fit every dirty thing you can think of into one shower? We’re gonna need to work on that.”

“We have eight hours until your shift. Why do you think I asked?”

It turned out our water heater didn’t have as much stamina as we did, which we inconveniently learned midfuck, Chet’s hand’s braced against the wall, water spray cascading down his back as I pumped into him. With little warning, the water turned lukewarm for three seconds and then shot straight to arctic ice floe. Chet shrieked like a hyena, and we both stumbled out, me catching him as he slid on the tile.

My mom calledSunday afternoon while Sam, Chet, and I were hanging out on the back porch. Sam was firing up the grill for a barbecue. Chet was already in his work uniform, shirt undone and open over his chest, a pair of shades over his eyes. I thought he might actually be asleep on the lounger where he was sprawled, but he turned his head slightly when I answered the phone. “Hey, Ma.”

“Hey, honey, your dad said you weren’t coming by for dinner tonight.”

“I’ve got a final on Tuesday, yeah. I need all the study time I can get.” Which wasn’t really a lie at this point, since I’d been with Chet all weekend. But my grade in the class was decent, and I’d spent Chet’s shift last night studying. Two more sessions like that and I figured I’d be fine for the final.

Plus, I had no desire to be around my dad right now. Or my mom, for that matter. Chet and I had gone around and around without coming to any real resolution, hedging back and forth between trying to keep things on the down low and just accepting our fate.
