“He’s precious to me as well,” Thorne replied.

Trigg nodded. “Congratulations on the mate-bond.”

“Thank you,” they both said in unison.

Together, Thorne and Kris descended the porch steps. The sun was blinding today, the sky a dome of flawless sapphire.

Thorne heard the front door close behind them with a loud clunk.

Hand in hand they walked to Thorne’s truck.

Kris said softly, “I can’t believe I was eager to be one of them. A Vandergale Alpha thinking myself superior to all, ready to take whatever I wanted without conscience.”

“You could never be one of them. And neither is Trigg. For one thing, you do have a conscience.”

“And I have you.” When Kris looked up, his eyes were like golden light. His smile bloomed as he left all the shadows of his past behind.

“You’re just lucky I guess,” Thorne said, chuckling.

Joining in with his own sweet laugh, Kris said, “The luckiest Alpha-Omega on Earth.”
