Whoever it is, they want to hurt me. You don’t just run around with a knife like that to scare someone.
When I see the tower, I let out a sigh of relief. I can hide until my guys come. I’ll be okay.
I have to believe that.
This whole time, I haven’t risked looking back, not wanting to trip over my feet, so when I reach the door, flinging it open, I rush inside and go to shut the door, but someone rams their body into it, making it crash open.
“Oh fuck.” I shout, eyes widening in terror, when I come face to face with the masked person. Turning around, I head up the stairs, ignoring the way my lungs scream and my limbs ache.
They follow me up the stairs. All I can think about is how I’m going to die. All because I wanted to go for a fucking walk.
Just as I make it to the tower room, a body slams into me, and I go crashing to the ground with a hard thud.
Needing to stay alive, I start fighting, kicking, and screaming, fists flying. Then they get a punch to my face, and my head snaps back.
Pain radiates through my skull, making me groan.
“Stop fighting, you stupid bitch!” the person shouts, and I feel the cool press of the blade to my neck.
Blinking my eyes open, I squint up at the familiar voice, unable to pinpoint who it is through the mind fog.
They rip their mask off, breathing heavily as they glare down at me.
The moonlight streams through the tower window, shining right on my attacker.
“Tina?” I rasp, blinking in disbelief.
“You think you can take everything from me?” she asks, her voice low and sinister. “You think you can take my man, my school, my fucking life!?” she roars in my face. “No. Fuck no! I’m not letting some worthless whore like you destroy my life. Preston is mine! You made a fucking fool of me. And now, you're going to pay.” She grins down at me, her face eerie in the low light, and there's this final credence that fills me that this is my end. “Can’t take anything else from me if you're not alive to do it.”
Chapter 21
Preston
“Fuck.” I groan, rolling off Declan. “I think that tight ass wrung my cock dry.” Panting heavily, I flop onto my back in a sweaty mess and stare up at the ceiling, my body a boneless jelly mess.
Declan laughs breathlessly. “You're welcome.”
Smiling, I feel this dopey giddiness inside me, a feeling I get anytime I’m with Declan or Sadie. Being able to be open about it is new. But I don’t hate it.
“I could sleep for a good few days,” I murmur, eyes feeling heavy as sleep threatens to take over.
“Same.” Declan yawns.
“Come here and cuddle me.” I roll my head to the side.
“Look at you. All needy and shit. I love it.” Declan grins, and my heart skips a damn beat. “But don’t you have to meet a certain someone?” Declan says, grabbing his phone to show me the group chat.
Brows furrowed, I read the message and my eyes widen. “Fuck!”
Jumping out of bed, I quickly get dressed. Sadie sent me a message a half hour ago telling me she was going to go to the tower and wanted me to meet her there. I was going to text her back when my phone died.
I was waiting for it to charge when Declan was making bratty comments, which led to me threatening to spank his ass. Then, well, you can guess where it ended up.
“Love you. Be back soon.” I quickly kiss Declan and grab my phone off the charger before rushing out of his room, his laughter following after me.
Out of breath and a little dizzy from just fucking Declan into the mattress, I turn my phone on. The moment the screen lights up, I’m hit with a bunch of messages.
There’s a missed call from the group chat two minutes ago. Ding. Ding. Ding. Message after message. Then my phone rings.
