“There’s a news report of a mass shooting in a restaurant. I was able to get surveillance footage. The Sullivans walk out and a short time later, Hampton and Hannah, along with his men.” Phoenix looks at me. “Killed all her protection. It was a setup.”
“I’ll kill them.”
“I’ve sent men to get the Sullivans, but right now, we need to focus on Hannah,” Phoenix says.
“I’ve reached out to the Russos, Donovans, and Rileys,” Flint says.
“I’ll the Byrns,” O’Donnell offers.
“We still need to get in. If we show up with an army, they could just kill her. We need to get in, get her, then blow those motherfuckers up.” Blaise pulls out a folded paper from his pocket and spreads it on O’Donnell’s desk. "Jenna has been helping me map out all the tunnels and passages from when she worked there. Many aren't on official plans."
"How do we know they're accurate?" John demands. "If this information is wrong?—”
“What? You’re going to leave her there and cower like a pussy?” I want to reach across and strangle him.
“No, I just… if they’re wrong?—”
“They’re not wrong,” Blaise states.
“I thought the tunnels were guarded or blocked now,” Phoenix says.
Blaise nods. “Yes, but here.” He pokes a place on the map across the street from the estate. “There’s an abandoned building under which there’s a tunnel.” He drags his finger along the page to the estate. “To here, a room in the basement that doesn’t appear on the official plan.” He looks over at me. “Once in there, I can get us around. I know that basement like the back of my hand. It actually hasn’t changed much since we lived there. They rebuilt over it.”
John studies the plans, jaw tight. "My men will follow your lead. But Ash…" His eyes meet mine. "Bring my daughter home."
"I will. Or I'll die trying."
The room fills with O'Donnell's top lieutenants along with Riley, Russo, and Donovan, as we outline the assault plan.
“Kean reached out as you said he would,” Donovan says to me.
“We made him think we were placating you but still loyal to him,” Riley adds.
“Good. He won’t expect us to have help,” I say. For the first time since getting Kean's message, I feel a flicker of hope.
Twenty minutes later,I’m at the abandoned building across from the Kean estate. My brothers and I look across the street at the house.
“Tonight, we take back what’s ours,” Phoenix says.
“Do we burn it and rebuild?” Flint asks.
“First things first. We take the estate and the business.”
“Hampton is mine. I want him looking at me when I put a bullet in his head.” The rage burns in my veins. It’s fueling me. I look forward to the fear in Hampton’s eyes right before I kill him.
Phoenix claps me on the shoulder. “First things first, Brother. Come on. Let’s get this party started.”
Blaise shifts uneasily. "If we keep Hampton alive, it might be easier to retake the business and power."
“I don’t remember your thinking that when you killed Ronan,” I say, annoyed at Blaise’s idea.
“Ronan had a gun to Jenna’s head.”
I glare at Blaise. “Why are we here now? Hampton has a gun?—”
“Right. Sorry. I’m just thinking it might be easier to get the rest of the families on board and take the business if he’s kept alive, for a little bit, anyway.”
"That's worth considering," Flint agrees. "The families would turn on him instantly."
