“Sam,” I call to get her attention, waving her back to the table, and hold a shot glass for her. “To new friends. Let’s have a great night, ladies!” I shoot the tequila back and wince as it burns going down.
“So, I want to get out on that dance floor and shake my ass! Who’s coming?”
We walk down the stairs, and it’s like the seas part for us. Bodies move aside, and we get into the middle of the action. Quinn gets us each some water, and I watch Sam. She has her arms in the air and is moving her hips to the music. I’ve seen her and Tait around set. He acts different with her than he did with Emily. I don’t know if anything is going on with them, but he seems happier.
“You seem good for Tait,” I yell over the noise so she can hear me. She’s confused and I continue. “He seems to light up when he sees you.”
She laughs. “It’s probably the coffee or the water that I’m holding for him.”
She and Quinn bump hips, and I have a few men come up to me, trying to get my attention to dance with them. I step out of their grasp and stare daggers at them. Why do men assume they can touch?I see Tait press himself against Sam, and familiar arms wrap around me. I smile and sway to the music, enjoying the feel and warmth of his body against me.
“You’re too damn sexy. All the guys want you. Did you know that?”
“Too bad. I’m taken by the most handsome one here.”
“Tait?” he asks as I playfully swat his arm.
I glance around us. Sam and Tait have disappeared, and Quinn has gone back up to the VIP area. I now feel bad because she’s a third wheel for the evening.
Bradley directs me to a darker part of the dance floor and dips his lips to my neck. I tilt my head to the side, allowing him space to work with. The damn neck kisses get me every time. His hands slide over my form, kneading my breast. I slide my hand down his chest and stomach, stopping at his hard length. I love knowing I can elicit that reaction.
In a matter of minutes, I’m panting. If we don’t stop, we’re both going to do something we will regret.
“Baby, now’s not the place. Let’s go check on Quinn and Sam.”
I nod. He’s right, but that doesn’t change the fact I want him to push me against a wall and have his way with me.
We walk up the stairs and everyone else is there, and the waitress arrives with a tray of what look like Appletinis. Quinn takes a large sip as I slide into a seat next to Brad.
“Well, looks like I’m the third wheel tonight. Tait, I thought I told you it was going to be a girls’ night out tonight. Why are you and Bradley here?” Quinn asks.
“It was my idea,” Bradley interjects. “I thought it would be fun for us to hang out for the evening. I didn’t think you would mind.” He tosses his arm over my shoulder and rubs his thumb along my bare skin.
“And it’s really Sam’s fault,” Tait says.
Sam turns toward him, her mouth hanging open in surprise. “Pray tell, please, tell mehowit’s my fault?”
He leans down and whispers something in her ear, and she blushes a deep red. Quinn tosses back more of her drink.
“Well, I want to dance some more. I’ll leave all you love birds here.” Quinn stands on shaky legs and makes her way down to the dance floor.
“How much has she had to drink?” Tait asks, watching her slowly descend the stairs.
“We’ve only had a shot and one drink, and now this drink. Maybe it’s just the heels,” Sam says, pressing the glass to her lips for a sip. He puts his hand over the top of it and takes it from her. “Hey! What the hell, Tait?”
“Did you order this drink?”
“No. I assumed Quinn put in the order. Why?”
“Don’t drink that, Elena. I think it might be roofied.” Tait stands and looks over the edge, spotting Quinn on the dance floor.
“Shit.” He takes off below to get to her, and I panic. Are all the drinks laced? Was that drink meant for me? Did my stalker do this?
“Elena, we need to get out of here. Tait is taking her outside.”
Bradley pulls me toward him, hugging me tight. “You’re safe. It’s okay. I’ll text Jimmy and Kent to let them know what happened, and they’ll look into it. See if the bartender knows anything.”
Tait and Quinn leave in one car, and the rest of us leave in the other. Tait gives us updates through text on how she’s doing and decides he’s going to stay with her for the night to make sure she’s safe.
