Page 28 of The Omega's Bloodlinem: Part Two
Logan blinked up at me, fingers still working beneath the cat’s ear.
The cat turned plaintive eyes to me.I’m so sorry. I don’t know what came over me. I’ll take whatever punishment you think is necessary.
A panic attack triggering a violent outburst sounds like punishment enough to me.I put my nose to hers. But if you hurt the witch again, I’m going to eat you.
The cat bristled, tucking her face into Logan’s elbow.Understood.
Shakti hovered at the door. “I’ll stay out with her. Take the witch to the infirmary.”
Come on. I nudged Logan with my head and she passed the cat to Shakti as we stepped back inside. Are you putting on a brave face, or do you have some strange witch magic that dulls your pain?
Logan turned to me with tears lacing her bottom lashes. “It definitely hurts.”
Her panthers met her as we stepped inside.
“Logan, fuck, are you okay?” Caden asked. “We got stuck on crowd control.”
I glanced around, noting Yelena and Haru had finally joined us, each sporting a fresh bite on their throats. Will wonders never cease? I’d been wondering how long it would take her to finally claim the wolf when they’d been head over fucking heels for each other for years.
“I could use some painkillers,” Logan admitted, “and some antiseptic. Who knows where those paws have been?”
I led the way, Logan and her panthers following in my wake.
“Panthers,” Yelena called out. “You’re not off duty just yet. Let Velda take care of Logan.”
I gave her a curious look, unsure why she was putting Logan in my hands instead of one of her mates’, but I wasn’t going to say no.
Dr. Atling and Nurse Sarah were already preparing the infirmary and quickly took Logan aside to clean her wounds. I slipped into my human form, dragging Logan into a kiss.
Foolish girl. They could have killed you.
But they didn’t. She hissed, a string of curses tumbling from her as she broke contact.
“I’m sorry.” Dr. Atling didn’t stop her work. “Sarah, she’ll need stitches.”
“I’ll handle it.” Sarah eyed me. “Protector Velda will need some attention as well.”
“I’m fine,” I promised.
“Bullshit.” Dr. Atling eyed me. “Sit down.”
I settled next to Logan so I wouldn’t take up an available bed, choosing the side Sarah wouldn’t need access to. Logan held my hand as Sarah administered a quick shot to numb the area so she could get started on the stitches. I didn’t need any myself, but they did do an ultrasound to make sure I didn’t have internal bleeding.
“You’re going to hurt, but it looks like the damage isn’t dangerous,” Dr. Atling announced.
“Nothing I haven’t experienced before.” I waited, distracting Logan while Sarah finished up the stitches.
Logan surveyed my bare skin, taking in the mottled bruising already beginning to form. “I wish I had some kind of healing magic.”
“Don’t you have it? How else did your little panther survive?”
“I think that was more our life-or-death thing. I panic ordered him not to die, but I didn’t heal him.”
I nodded and nuzzled her cheek. “I won’t pretend to understand omega magic, though the emergence of that skill would definitely be helpful. Maybe you can heal yourself with the power surge.”
“Rest first,” Dr. Atling ordered. “Play around with magic later.”
“Yes, ma’am,” Logan said with a laugh.
