Pumping into him, I took hold of his throat. “You’re mine.”
“Yes,” Lorcan panted, moving his hand to my wrist and squeezing. “Yours.”
He wanted me to hold him tighter, so I did, clutching his throat. I braced my other hand on the rock beside his head and fucked him harder. He moaned and writhed, leaning his head back against me.
“And you are mine, Alek.”
My heart sang at his words, at hearing my name leave his lips.
“Aye, rosebud. I’m yours.” I kissed the side of his head as I drove into him. “Every. Part. Of. Me.” The words were spoken between thrusts, and with each one, I drew closer to that cliff. From his throaty groans, so was he.
Something was building inside me, not a physical release. A spiritual one.
Eva said that once we had sex in our true forms and confessed our love during the act, we’d complete the bond.
I felt it. As if my soul was welding to his. Forever joining us.
“I love you,” I murmured as I climaxed, my body quaking from the force of it. “All of you.”
“And I love you,” Lorcan whimpered as he joined me in euphoric bliss.
His ass clenched around my cock, drawing out my release and making me forget my own name. All I knew was the pleasure; the sensation of finally feeling whole.
Afterward, I slumped forward and nuzzled the side of his face. He gave a tired grin, and I kissed the edge of his mouth.
I was exhausted, too, mentally and physically. That hadn’t just been sex. Not even making love. It’d been an experience all its own. A soul-shattering joining that had carved Lorcan’s name into my heart.

“You look different,” Troy said. Purple covered his lids and specks of gold were stuck to the ends of his eyelashes.
It was the morning after Alek and I had completed our bond, and I couldn’t wipe the smile from my face.
“Oh?” I eyed him a moment before skipping forward, grabbing the column near the staircase, and swinging around it.
“Uh, yes.” Troy walked behind me, taking the stairs as I hopped up on the railing and slid down. “You are very…happy.”
“Am I not allowed happiness, dear friend?” Reaching the bottom of the stairs, I jumped to the floor and strolled toward the corridor on the other side of the entrance hall.
“There is no one who deserves happiness more than you, Lor.” Troy caught up to me and walked at my side. The straps of his leather sandals delicately wound up his legs, and he wore a long tunic that ended right above his knee. No trousers. A belt was around his midsection, but it was more for decoration. He was always experimenting with his fashion. “I only mean it’s nice to see you smiling. You know, with war approaching and all.”
The army was set to leave soon, and I was traveling with them. It’d take two days to arrive at the location where we were to meet King James and his army. Then, it’d be another two days before we reached Black Hallows. That’d put us arriving just in time.
“Which is precisely why I should smile while I can,” I responded.
Father had requested for me to join him in the throne room. I’d received the news early that morning, and I was running behind schedule, thanks to the devilishly handsome male in my bed who asked me to hold him for an extra half hour before he allowed me to rise and dress. Hold him…and other things.
I smiled about those things as I whistled and strolled down the corridor.
Troy grabbed my hand, and I gently swung our arms between us, whistling a tune I’d heard a bard play when we’d been in Talena. He chuckled before swinging our arms higher, and soon, we were skipping down the hall like two children.
Malik snorted.
My friend turned and stuck out his tongue. “What’s the matter, Mal?” he asked in a singsong voice. “Do you wish to join us?”
Malik shook his head, unamused. Well, not quite. His orange eyes reflected the smile he hid from his lips. He grew serious again, though, and he seemed more tense than usual.
