“This isn’t…you’re not trying to get me pregnant already, are you? Do you want that right now?”
“I want whatever you want,” he says, releasing his hold on me.
“Liar,” I say as I ease off of him. He quirks one brow at me so I go on, “You want a million of them running around. A bunch of mini Vans and Mini Lunas.”
His eyes go wide, “Fucking hell. I’ll never survive.”
I look back and see him sprawled out, hands behind his head. He’s watching me, eyes and smile both warm and soft as I say, “You better, I can’t live without you now.”
I make quick work of cleaning myself up and then grab new bandages for both of us.
“I can’t live without you either,” he says when I reach the bed.
“You won’t have to,” I shrug. “The two of us together? After we get these little scratches healed up? Honestly, we’ll be unstoppable. My father, Delgado, the Russians, they don’t stand a chance, don’t you think?”
At that, Van laughs. It’s a big, free sound I don’t hear enough. But I don’t understand why he’s laughing. “What?”
“It’s just really hitting me that it’s real, you’re finally on my team. What you’re going to do with Allie, with all the recruits…” He grabs me and settles me back on his chest and adds, “Honestly, the syndicates, the whole rest of the world, against my wife?Well. They’re fucked.”
EPILOGUE
Van
“Damn,” I say as I close the comms window. We intercepted another Volotov shipment but just got word we didn’t find anything in the magazines. We’re all getting frustrated.
“Motherfucker! I’m going crazy, Van. Crazy!” My wife rants. I guess some of us are more frustrated than others. “Nothing on that front and it’s been weeks. Weeks! I’m healed, look at me!” She almost shouts as she jumps into a lunge. She’s been pushing herself to recover much faster than I’d like but there’s no slowing down Luna Quinn.
I smile at the thought.Luna Quinn. Mine.
“Quit smiling, I’m serious. There should be a whole plan for Mia by now, something I can orchestrate or hell give me a gun, I’ll execute. I’d execute the hell out of it.”
“I know you would,” I grumble.
“Something, anything by now! We haven’t even had our all-hands,” she gives up on her stress stretching and flops into her desk chair next to mine. It starts to roll but I grab it and pull her closer to me.
“Command said they have a marriage option in progress for her. If she chooses death, that’s easy. We have a million of those scenarios sitting on go. And Ellie is going to talk to her this weekabout us. Plus,” I gesture around my newly-overhauled bunker, “We’ve been a little busy.”
“I know, and it’s great, how fast we’ve gotten started and how much they’ve handed over but M—” she stops her rant as Finn walks in. Her nostrils flare and I can tell she’s chastising herself for almost saying Mia’s name out loud in front of a low-level soldier.
We just brought Finn in. It wasn’t a hard sell. His much older brother, the man who raised him and one of my father’s favorites, stole Finn’s childhood sweetheart for himself as a virgin bride. Then he killed her after stealing her virginity. All because Finn wanted to marry young and start a family rather than join the Irish mob.
Fucking monster. He’s high on my list of names. Eventual targets. The list seems to get longer by the day.
Finn sets down two heavy boxes filled with gear. Robbie had a shipment dropped half a mile from here and our recruits are running through the woods to pick them up and haul them down here. Finn is still ornery and volatile, but the manual labor is good for him.
“Hey,” my wife says to the kid. She stands and takes a few steps closer, “That’s a faster time up and down and carrying more too. Very nice, Finn.”
I know what’s about to happen, so I look up from my screen. I’ve seen it many times in recent weeks but I want more. I think it’s my favorite sight other than the moments I make my stunning bride come on my cock. Her eyes will flash with satisfaction, her spine will lengthen. She’ll look every bit the incredible leader she is.
I watch and it all happens, just for a moment, when his mouth quirks up and he dips his head. Then he looks up and tells her, “Thanks, Boss.”
