Page 84 of Tangled Lies
Knox was already lifting Talon’s heavy arms from my body and pulling me up to him.
“You’re not sleeping in that chair now that you know he isn’t going to die.”
Knox carried me over to the couch. He kept me in his arms even as he sat, leaving me on his lap.
“Angel, what were you thinking today when you went all serial killer on that guy?”
I couldn’t read Knox well. It was apparent he cared for the three men he called brothers enough to keep me safe for them.
“I was thinking it pissed me off that anyone would hurt any of you. I didn’t like it. I didn’t like thinking Talon could die. Or that any of you could die.”
In fact, I didn’t want to say the idea of losing any of them seemed to hit me deep. Losing my parents had altered my life, and I would never get back the sense of security they’d given me. I’d never get back being cared for or loved in any capacity. At least, that’s what I had thought.
My soul ached. The pain having become the only true friend in my life. Reina helped fill a void, but she couldn’t understand my anger. The dark rage that swirled inside of me. Year after year, it grew harder and harder to hold it in, and it was the one thing she couldn’t see.
“Is that what you thought about? If any of us died?”
I shifted in his lap, moving to straddle him. It wasn’t lost on me just how it felt to spread my legs over his thighs, but I wanted to see him. Talk to him.
“Yes and no.”
His hands rested on my waist. His face was unreadable.
What had I really thought about? I don’t know why, but I distracted myself by playing with the fabric of his shirt.
“I thought I hated those guys. I hated them thinking they could hurt you for no reason. It’s not your fault they broke the rules. It wasn’t my parents' fault my uncle was greedy.”
I sighed.
“Knox, do you know why I didn’t fight against you guys kidnapping me? Besides that the four of you are much better looking than Carrow?”
He cocked a brow.
“I’ll take that as a no. Well, it was because something about the way I saw your dark sides that first night, I knew that no matter how many demons I had fighting to take over, I knew none of you would judge me.”
I closed my eyes as Knox’s hand raised in my peripheral vision. I trusted him not to hurt me, not without cause. A shiver of desire ran along my spine as his fingers slid around my ear, playing with a bit of hair along the way.
“The villain doesn’t judge, angel. He seduces the princess and rips the mask off the wolf dressed like a prince. And you? I can’t wait to see what kind of monster you’re hiding underneath all that light.”
The room was quiet. The soft sound of Talon breathing was a calming reminder that he’d be okay. I didn’t know what made me do it, but my fingers itched to move, to touch Knox. I pulled my fingers away from his collar and started to shift them, pulling away before losing myself to the need. I traced my fingers over his jawline. When he didn’t stop me, I trailed two fingers down his forehead, over the bridge of his nose, stopping at his lips.
I leaned closer, keeping my voice a whisper.
“And tell me, how does the princess’s story end when there’s one villain who hates the princess, but three that don’t?”
There was no regret when he grabbed my hand and pinned it behind my back as his lips pressed into mine.
I rocked my hips over Knox’s lap, pressing against him and feeling the bulge behind his pants. When he pulled away, we were both breathing heavily and my core was so wet I wouldn’t be surprised if I’d already soaked through the lace of my underwear to his pants.
“Hate’s a strong word, angel.”
He grabbed the back of my neck and pulled my lips back to his.
He freed my wrist and reached under the hem of my dress. His hand slid up my thigh and straight to my pussy. He was all decision and no hesitation. He knew what he wanted, and I knew I couldn’t stop him even if I had wanted to. His fingers slid under the elastic of my panties and found the sensitive nub between my legs. I was so wet his fingers slid through my folds easily, making it far too easy for him to make me come with only a few strokes.
He pulled his lips away, letting me gasp for air, only for his words somehow made me pant a little harder.
“As for the ending of your story? We haven't written it yet.”
