Page 120 of Tangled Desires

I hug her, kissing her cheek. “Patience, little one. Love hits when you least expect it.” I pull back, my gaze playful. “Could be closer than you think, though.”

My eyes drift to Harrison, who’s now got Joseph on his shoulders, laughing at Xavier. Callie spins around their legs until she face-plants.

“Oh, shit,” Xavier mutters, scooping her up as her screams hit max volume. Joseph takes it as his cue to join in, turning beet red as he wails.

Michael shakes his head. “And you wantmore?”

“Now, now, Mikey boy.” Harrison slings an arm around him. “Wait until it’s your turn, and we’ll see.”

Michael snorts. “Not bloody likely.”

Harrison hands Joseph back to me. The second he’s in my arms, he stops crying.

“Mummy’s boy.” Harrison winks, then grins. “Wait, I’m Mummy’s boy, too, right?”

God, this big idiot.

I grab hold of his jaw and pull him down for a quick kiss. “Only when you’re on your best behaviour.”

“When am I never? I’ll even beg for it tonight,” he grins, biting my jaw.

Michael makes a dry heaving sound from somewhere nearby, clearly having heard the whole exchange. Callie’s wailing continues, and Xavier whistles loudly, calling everyone inside.

Yet, standing in the middle of all this noise, this chaos, with my heart so full it’s like I can’t even hold it all. Taco sits beside my legs, leaning into me like he senses it, too.

This is life. Our life. It all started with tangled desires—messy, impossible—but it became something beautiful. “I love you, sugar.”

“I love you more, Harrison.”

A perfect, tangled mess.
