His hand wrapped around my jaw to tilt my head to meet his gaze. “You can tell me.”

“I haven’t been... I mean, I’m not...” All the confidence I had while we were making out fled. What if I was terrible in bed?

He stilled. “Are you a virgin?”

I jerked my head back. “No.”

His chest decompressed, and he let out the barest whisper of a breath. “Okay. Is it my position at the university?”

“What? No. You don’t even work in the restoration department. Besides, I’m not exactly an eighteen-year-old co-ed.”

He ran his hand along my jaw. “If you changed your mind. It’s never too late to tell me. We can stop.”

With each word he uttered, he proved that in private, the arrogant grump disappeared. “No,” I whispered, embarrassed about what I was about to admit. “It’s just ... I’ve only been with one guy, and I don’t want you to be disappointed.” My shoulders slumped. I didn’t want this to end, but my lack of experience could be a deal breaker.

A soft chuckle rumbled against my chest.

Did he think this was funny?

“You could never disappoint me.”

I frowned. “You don’t know that.”

“I do.” He sounded so sure.

“How?” I asked.

Jaxon kissed me, the lightest of touches, barely a whisper against my lips. “If you ever felt like you disappointed your previous partner, it was because he didn’t do his job right.”

I was not fully convinced he was right.

His eyes turned fierce. “You don’t believe me?”

I shook my head.

“Then let me show you.”

He ran his tongue down my neck, only pausing when I caught my breath. “Your pleasure is my pleasure. Tonight we learn each other’s bodies. Find out what builds that fire of desire so that we are both consumed by it.”

“Mmm, I like the sound of that.” I gave him a tentative smile.

“And Lily.” His tone let me know what he was about to say was important.

“Yes,” I responded softly.

“I may have had more sexual partners than you, but I don’t sleep around. I’m careful about who I let in and spend time with. This isn’t just a one-night stand for me.”

My breath caught in my throat. “What if that’s all I want?” It wasn’t, or at least I didn’t think it was.

“Then we stop this now.”

“What else would you want from this?” I asked, surprised. He wasn’t promising me a relationship, but what else were we left with if this wasn’t a one-time thing?

“I don’t know. I’m not promising forever, but I don’t jump from one partner to the next.” He tucked a piece of hair behind my ear. “I’d like a chance to explore this attraction between us.”

“I’d like that, too.” I pressed my lips to his. Jaxon wanting to see where this went made him even more appealing in my eyes. My desire for him grew exponentially. Feeling my confidence return, I reached down between us, palming his erection. “I want this. I want to feel you inside of me.”

He groaned, his hips lifting to grind against my hand.
