When I was done, I shut the screen of the laptop.

“You okay?” Jaxon asked.

“I think so. I feel a little better now that it’s done. There’s no going back now.” I smiled.

“I’m proud of you, Lily. I know that wasn’t easy.” Dad gave me a big smile.

Now that I had sent the messages, all the emotions that had crashed into me when I first read the report had settled. I was still nervous, but I believed things happened for a reason. Maybe there was a reason for me to connect with my siblings now. And even if we didn’t develop a close relationship, I realized I didn’t need that.
