GEMMA
I didn’t thinkhe’d do it.
“Gemma?” he bellows out, in front of my building.
Embarrassed, yet smiling, my cheeks flushed, I gather my robe around my body and tie my belt before slipping my bare feet into my rabbit-shaped slippers and rushing to the window.
I push it open, a bright sun smiling down on me, the wind running its fingers through my hair.
I can’t stop smiling.
His eyes glint with mischief as he lifts up his hand.
“Gizmo?”
The orange fur ball rests casually on his forearm.
“I brought you donuts and coffee. And him.”
Mason flashes a smile, looking unbelievably rested considering that only a few hours ago we were still fucking like rabbits.
He wears a white, flowing shirt that is open across his chest, ripped jeans, and flip flops, and his aviator shades are tipped down his nose so he can take a better look at me.
My heart does a little dance in my chest.
I haven’t been so happy in a while.
“Get over here to pick up our gifts. You know where we’ll end up if I come to you.”
“Shush,” I toss at him, laughing. “Someone might hear you.”
“Get over here, baby.”
I gesture at him to stay put before dashing to my closet and changing my clothes at record speed.
My robe ends up on the floor while I push up a pair of shorts and a T-shirt.
Impatiently, I run my fingers through my hair and push my feet into my flip flops, the shoes reminding me of him.
Grinning like a silly girl, I walk out of my apartment and fly down the stairs before I stop, pull myself together, and try to exit the building without showing my excitement.
I’m not sure if I’m doing a good job at it or not.
All I know is that he opens his arms and lowers his head to kiss me before he hands me the kitten, the sweets, and the coffee.
“Where did you find him?” I ask.
I swear this cat is part of Mason’s ploy to make me get obsessed with him.
He gestures at the bottom of the stairs.
“He was waiting over there.”
“What?” I gasp in disbelief. “No way.”
He nods.
