KINSEY
As soon as we exit the small doctor’s building, I can feel eyes on me. Brooks slides his fingers through mine and pulls me toward the small café.
He leans down, pressing a kiss on my head. “Ignore it or they’ll know.”
With a humorless chuckle, I shake my head and then smile up at him. “Easier said than done. In the city I’m basically invisible, and now I’m not.”
His eyebrows furrow, and he gives me an incredulous look. “I very much doubt you were ever invisible, Kinsey.”
Warmth flutters into my heart, and I suppress the larger grin threatening to spread over my face.
He squeezes my hand. Then my cheeks heat when I can feel the flicker of equal appreciation down to the bond with Dallas.
He and Colt had to help unload the trucks and horses from everyone being back in town after the rodeo.
Brielle had been gone when I got back to the inn to grab some new clothes, and Brooks had been more than willing to spend the day with me.
We stop short before turning the corner to the café, an angry blonde in our way.
“Imagine my surprise when I hear the whispers of you in town, but I’m not your first stop.”
I let go of Brooks to launch myself at her, hugging tightly as her arms wrap around me.
“I did go to the inn first. You weren’t there,” I say into her hair.
Her shoulders slump. “Sorry. Maverick took me to breakfast. I’ll have to ask if he knew the heat was broken because I assume the guys are back at work.”
I step back with a smile. “Apparently the rest of the cowboys are back in town from the rodeo. I wonder if a certain someone will be coming for another kiss.”
Brielle’s cheeks flush a bright pink and her eyes flicker to someone behind me. I turn, noticing Maverick waiting in a truck. Giving him a small wave, I face my best friend again.
“Does he know? Because I’m sure he’ll find out eventually since they all work together.”
She sighs. “I don’t know. How do I randomly bring that up? What even is his name again? Cody?”
“You kissed Cooper?” Brooks says, astonished. “When even was this?”
“Shh!” she whispers harshly, checking to see if Maverick is near. “It doesn’t matter. Just keep your mouth shut. I’ll handle it.”
I entwine my fingers with Brooks’s as he stares at my best friend in disbelief. “Kinsey is right. It will be better coming from you than him finding out from around the ranch.”
Brielle groans, then we all startle when a truck’s horn goes off. Brooks scowls, flipping Maverick off as he glares at us from his driver’s seat.
“Sorry, I promised him I’d be real quick. We’re going to visit Levi before he has to check in,” Brielle says, holding up one finger to signal a little more time before she wags it at Brooks. “Swear yourself to secrecy right now.”
He zips his lips and throws away the key as I smile. She gives me another side hug and kisses my cheek. “Don’t think I missed that bite mark. You coming back to the room tonight so we can talk?”
I nod. “Yup. I’ll be there.”
She grins, running back across the street while cursing Maverick out for honking at us. He has the decency to look ashamed while also appearing amused.
Brooks shakes his head. “They are something else.” He tilts his head toward the sidewalk. “You still want that coffee?”
Rising on my tiptoes, I give him a peck on the lips. “Yes and thanks for keeping that secret for her. It means a lot. ”
He snorts. “I just hope I’m there the day he finds out. It will be entertaining.” Brooks gives me another kiss before leading to the café.
Connie smiles at us when we enter, waggling her eyebrows as we get closer. “Everyone is talking about how you four all disappeared for a few days.”
I groan as Brooks laughs, holding me closer.
“Now, now. We don’t kiss and tell,” he says with a wink. “Her usual but small size and I’ll take the same with some extra chocolate croissants."
An annoyed huff escapes my mouth at the purposeful ordering of a small, but I don’t say anything because I know Colt is more than likely going to scold us both later on.
“Got it. Give me a few minutes.”
Brooks says thanks and pulls me to the side, wrapping his arm around me to hold me against his chest and rest his hand on my stomach.
I roll my eyes at his possessiveness and clear show of marking what is his, even if it sends flutters to my belly. “Calm down. I think I’ll be smelling like the three of you for weeks.”
He lets out a low growl. “You do, but my alpha is riding me to make you mine like Dallas has.”
Turning in his arms, I stare up at him, resting my hand over his heart. “I want that too, Brooks.”
Affection flashes in his eyes. “Right now?”
I frown in confusion. He nods toward the bathroom, and I glance at Connie before following him into it. Brooks grabs me around the waist and lifts me onto the long white sink. I gasp into his mouth as he kisses me, groaning at the sweet vanilla taste of his lips.
“Brooks, we shouldn’t…” I try but lose myself back in his kiss when his tongue strokes along mine. When we pull away, we’re both panting, and his forehead rests against mine.
“Can I claim you here? At the place I first saw you?”
My heart squeezes, and my mouth waters at the thought. “You want to claim me in the bathroom of the coffee shop? ”
Brooks shrugs. “Believe me, Connie cleans it religiously. And I don’t think you’re the girl who needs candles, roses, and a fluffy bed, right? That morning I saw you outside the coffee shop, I knew you were mine. Ours. And I want it to be the same place I bond with you.”
Tears well in my eyes, even if it’s a little ridiculous, I love how much it means to him. “Yes. Please bond with me, Brooks.”
He kisses me again, his fingers tangling into my hair as his mouth ravages mine. I moan into his kiss before he abruptly pulls back and kneels.
I watch in alarm. “Brooks!”
“Shh, love. You’re going to get us caught,” he teases. With some wiggling around, he pulls off my panties and leggings, letting them hang off one foot.
He pushes my legs apart, kissing down my thigh, and my eyes roll back.
God, I just chastised him earlier about the non-privacy of the small town and here we are. Brooks face deep in my pussy and I’m on the verge of asking for more. I’m almost to the point of not giving a fuck if he knots me right here.
Brooks swipes up my center with a flattened tongue, and I slam my hand over my mouth.
My other hand grips onto the edge of the sink as I fall against the mirror with an indiscreet thud.
He laps up my slick that gushes out with a groan.
His tongue plays with my hole as he drinks down my juice before moving up to my swollen clit, sucking it hard enough to make me jerk, and I shudder as I come instantly.
I’m stunned by the force of it as Brooks grunts, slurping up as much as he can before pushing a finger into my pulsating pussy.
When my breathing starts to calm, I look down at him already watching me while his hand still slowly rocks in and out of me.
His teeth sink into my skin in the next second, and I don’t have time to register the pain before intense pleasure spreads through me.
Brooks shoves another finger in my pussy as I come again, gushing slick all over his hand.
I moan before I can stop it, my body trembling as our bond snaps into place and I feel the immense love he has for me.
I can’t breathe because of how strongly he’s pushing it toward me .
“Brooks,” I gasp out. He pulls away, licking and sealing the wound before standing and kissing me. The taste of my slick, my blood, and him is heavenly. “I love you too,” I sob. I push how I feel into the bond, and some leaks over into Dallas’s because I hear his answering joy.
Brooks grins widely. “I never imagined my life would be like this.”
Heavy knocking pounds on the door, making us both startle, his fingers still inside me.
“People can hear you, heathens!” Connie shouts, but with no malice.
It’s silent for a few seconds before we both burst out laughing.
He pulls his fingers out, sucking them clean as I climb off the sink.
Washing his hands as I right my clothes, our eyes catch in the mirror and our lips lift in matching smiles.
Happiness and love bleed into my heart, and I rest my head against his chest.
Brooks wraps his arm around me, his palm resting on my stomach. “I’ve never been so excited for the future.”
A blush works over my cheeks. “Me too.”
