KINSEY
Rolling off the warm chest, I groan at my very sore body.
There are aches in places I didn’t know aches could exist. This isn’t my first heat, but I’ve never felt so thoroughly satisfied.
Usually the academy provided us with a center that monitored us throughout the whole process, but they only provided two alphas and medication to dim everything.
“Kinsey?” A groggy voice has me looking to the side, finding a very tired Brooks that I had almost slipped off of.
I give a weak smile, collapsing back onto his chest. “ Hey.”
His hand rubs at my back. “How you feeling? Your heat?”
“Gone, I feel…clear-headed.”
Another groan rumbles behind us. “Is she up?”
I shiver at Colt’s deep voice. Brooks smirks when he feels my nipples harden. A kiss is pressed onto my shoulder, and I moan lightly.
Brooks shoos him away with a slight push. “I think Kinsey wants a bit of space.”
“Kinsey wants a shower,” I grumble into his skin. He smells so good, like a crisp lemonade on a summer’s day. Sighing, I roll off and flop onto my side between the two men. I lift my arm, smelling myself and then frowning when it’s not as bad as I thought.
Colt clears his throat, amused. “We did manage to get you into a bath once or twice.”
I hum. “Thank you.”
Unease fills my chest, and I rub at it before my attention is forced to the man causing it. My mouth parts when a brief flash of memory filters through, and my fingers slide up to my neck and connect with the raised skin of his healed bite. Dallas shudders, his eyes dropping to the mattress.
“Why do you feel like that?” I ask warily.
The air around us thickens; Brooks and Colt are eerily still as I stare at Dallas. His throat bobs and then his gaze flickers back up to mine.
“I wasn’t sure how you’d feel when the smoke cleared. We should have waited to bond until after your heat,” he says.
My heart clenches and my stomach twists. “Do you regret it?” I ask, the question barely above a whispered whine. A growl slips from Brooks’s lips before he turns away, covering his nose. My bitter scent must be affecting him.
Dallas shakes his head with wide eyes. “No! God, no Kinsey. I was afraid you would.”
Relief courses through me and Brooks squeezes my hip.
“I don’t. I mean, you all could have bonded me and I would have been okay with it,” I say.
Colt groans, jumping up from the mattress, and I pout when his cock is covered by tight boxers. “ Alright. Let’s get you all cleaned up, fed, and then we can discuss what this means going forward as a pack.”
He holds out his hand to pull me out of the nest, and I giggle when Brooks gives me a push by lifting my ass. I’m cocooned in Colt’s arms, and I sigh when I take in his comforting scent, like a s’more during a bonfire. I rub my nose on his chest. “I like you.”
He laughs, kissing my head. “I more than like you, Kinsey.”
Dallas pushes into my back, circling around us both. “God, that was the best week of my life.”
I grin, staring up at him when I can feel how much he means that in my heart.
Colt nuzzles into my throat then stiffens.
He maneuvers me out of Dallas’s arms and then moves on his knees, sniffing my stomach.
My heart pounds; I swear it’s loud enough for them to hear.
Colt’s head tilts back, tears in his eyes, and then he looks over at Dallas and Brooks. “She’s pregnant.”
“I’m pregnant. How? You can smell that? ”
Dallas watches in awe, smiling when he catches the tail end of my joy swirling in my chest. “Colt is a special kind of alpha. More heightened senses than most, a stronger bark.”
I gasp in shock. “I thought that was a myth. There are super alphas?”
They all cringe, and I can tell they’re not a fan of the term.
Society hasn’t always had omegas and alphas, but it’s been a long time since most of us were just betas.
They say descendants from the original alphas and omegas, the first to be gifted the change from the gods, have stronger designations.
Omegas are strong enough to basically manipulate control over alphas.
Alphas with a bark strong enough to make other alphas cower.
It’s folklore for most, since over generations the genealogy from those descendants has become diluted.
Colt shrugs, standing but not moving his hand from my belly. “So they claim, but who knows.”
Brooks snorts. “Believe me, his bark has a little bite to it. ”
“You’d think we’d technically all be descendants, no?” Dallas says.
I frown. “You should ask Brielle. She studied all that more intensely, she’s a believer in the gods.” Then I look over their faces with a grin. “I probably can’t take a test for another week, just to be sure.”
Brooks grins back. “You’re pregnant, Kinsey. I trust Colt with my life, and I’m beyond excited to be a daddy.”
“Shut up,” Dallas says, shoving against his shoulder. “No one is a daddy…yet.”
“I won’t be disappointed if I am. All I’ve ever wanted is a large family,” I admit shyly.
Colts pulls me into his chest, kissing down my face. “Now you have a large one. And if you aren’t, we can keep trying. I’m not against it.” He wiggles his eyebrows.
I laugh, swatting at his pec. “Come on, I was promised a shower and food. I need to check in with Brielle before she comes storming in. ”
Stepping away from him, I hold my hand out to Dallas, wiggling my fingers. “Come shower with me?”
A prickle of surprised joy flutters in my chest. Brooks and Colt must realize we need a moment just the two of us, because they don’t say anything or follow us into the bathroom. Dallas turns on the water to warm before facing me, our gazes locked.
He swallows before his eyes shift to his bite. “Does it hurt?”
My fingers lift, tracing it, and he shudders. Heat pools in my belly and my sore pussy clenches. I grimace. “Ow. I think you all quite literally wrecked my vagina.”
A satisfied smirk graces his lips. “You took all of our knots beautifully though. You’re so perfect for us, Kinsey.
” Some of his reservations fade as he steps closer, cupping my face to kiss me.
“I’m beyond honored I got to be your first bond, even if we were influenced by the heat,” he says against my lips.
I moan into his mouth and then pull away. “The first time I thought about biting you was the night I gave you a lap dance in the bar.”
His eyes go wide. “Really?”
Nodding, I kiss him lightly again. “Yes, so don’t think you’re a spur-of-the-moment decision, okay? I wanted it. I want all of you.”
A knock startles us both and I glance over at Colt, leaning against the door frame.
“Gonna get our girl in the shower? Or do you need some help?”
Dallas chuckles because he must feel my sense of yearning, and he gives me a teasing push to Colt.
“She’s all yours. I’ll help Brooks with the food. Knowing him, he'll manage to burn water.”
I smile as Colt catches me around the waist. “Brooks not good at cooking?”
“Brooks isn’t good at anything but horses. Swear to god the kid is the horse whisperer, and it sucks out any lick of sense for anything else. ”
My laugh turns into a gasp when Colt picks me up and carries me straight into the water, holding me close to his body. When he sets me on my feet, we stare at each other and his thumb comes up to rub at my bottom lip.
“You’re stuck with us now. You okay with that, darlin’?”
I smile wide, tilting my chin for a kiss. “More than okay.”
He kisses me with a chuckle, and his hand slides to my belly. “I know I told you before, but I have no shame in telling you again. I love you, Kinsey, and I can’t wait for the family we’re starting.”
My fingers snake to his hair, pulling him closer so I can kiss him harder. “I love you too.”
