Page 4 of Such a Grumpy Omega (His Alpha Desires #9)

Everly

“What’s going on?” The alpha from the night before, one who had told me good evening, walked toward me, but I stood my ground. I wouldn’t be intimidated no matter how gorgeous and alpha-y he was.

I would get access to this place and fucking end them.

“This gentleman would like to enter the club but I explained to him that it is members only.”

The girl’s name tag said Julie. Julie didn’t know it but, if I had my way, she would be out of a job soon.

“My name is Fraser. Julie is right. You must fill out an application and be approved as a member before you can come in.”

“A member, huh?”

My wolf was pissed at me. Raged, in fact. Last night had made twice that I’d encountered that handsome and sexy alpha at the club, and both times, I was sure I’d come off as a complete jerk.

Because shutting down a business and trying to ruin people’s plans wasn’t a thing for nice people.

I wasn’t usually like this. I was a nice person. Until now.

Now, I had this knife inside me and, instead of taking it out, shutting this club down, or attempting to, felt like digging it in deeper.

I was so pissed when I left that I video-chatted my sister and my cousins.

“What is it?” Sadie asked. No hello or how are you . No. She wanted me off the phone as soon as possible. Even on Christmas.

“I tried to get into that club. I just wanted you all to know I plan on infiltrating it and shutting it down. I’ll reverse the contract on the house. I want it.”

“You tried to get into Cuffed?” Sadie asked. Her laugh always sounded like the wicked witch of the north or south? One of those.

“I did. I’ll find some way to shut them down.”

Somehow that made her laugh even harder. “Everly, you thought you could just waltz right into a private sex club and raise the red flag and shut them down? That place is ultra exclusive. Besides, I don’t really think it’s the place for an omega like you.”

“What do you mean an omega like me?” I asked. “And what do you mean a sex club? I thought it was a dance club.”

My cousins were all being very quiet. They weren’t mean like my sister, but they also weren’t helping. “It’s not a dance club,” one of them finally chimed in. “It’s a members-only sex club. All the kinks welcome.”

Now, I was livid. Before, mad, now, out of my mind with rage. “You fucking sold our family home to a whorehouse? Is that what they’re going to do? Tear it down and replace it with a whorehouse?”

I’d never said that word before. Sounded icky.

“It’s not a whorehouse, Everly. Calm down. It’s a club where people can openly express their…special sexual interests. It’s not a prostitution club. We’re not outside of Vegas.”

“So how do I get in?” I asked, since they clearly knew a lot about this place.

Sadie giggled. “You really think we’re going to help you get in and shut it down or whatever you’ve conjured up in your head?

No fucking way. We all want our checks, and you’re messing with that.

Go on, big guy. Do whatever, but that club is owned by people with connections.

I bet they have lawyers in their back pockets at the ready.

But don’t come crying to me when it all goes sour. ”

“When and why would I ever cry to you? It would be like crying into sandpaper.”

I hung up the call. We already had a strained relationship, but I’d hoped at some point in our adulthood that we could at least become friends. But that would never happen when Sadie viewed me as a menace, a thorn in her side.

She had no idea how sharp I could be.

I had work to do.

I went home and looked up the club. Not a single review. Nothing about unsafe conditions or sanitary issues. Fuck. I’d hoped for a negative review to give me a clue about how to proceed. That was fine. I would have to do the digging myself.

I got on their website and filled out the membership form.

It was quite extensive. They required an application fee and a background check.

Then I read that the owners themselves were the deciding factor.

I paid the fee and filled out all the information.

Now, I had to wait for the approval. I didn’t know how long they would take.

In the meantime, I would do as much research as possible online.

One way or another, I was going to make their expansion into my family’s home impossible.
