Chapter Nineteen

Daisy

S omething happened to me upstairs. Brody may have had my body restrained, but he set my soul free. He reached in and grabbed my darkness, dragging it kicking and screaming to the surface.

Once it was out in the open, he stared it down. He didn’t flinch. He matched it step for step. A dance I didn’t know I needed.

I watch as he pulls food out of the fridge.

“Drink,” he orders, giving me a stern look. “You’re going to need to replenish those fluids. I don’t want you dehydrating on me.”

I bring the bottle to my lips, taking a long drink. Fuck, water has never tasted so good.

“Well, you’re the one depleting me.”

He smiles wide, winking at me. “That’s my job, but you haven’t seen anything yet.”

My thighs clench, because good lord, how much more could there be?

“That was intense,” I admit honestly.

He picks me up and carries me to bed. “I’ll be right back.” A few minutes later, he returns with the tray of food.

Once we’re settled, he returns his focus back to me. “It was intense. I was pushing you pretty hard. Why didn’t you tap out?”

I shrug, popping a grape in my mouth. “It wasn’t more than I could handle. I trusted you.”

My answer seems to satisfy him, but his face turns serious. “I really want you to use that safety line when you need it. I love that you trust me, and I am watching you closely, but I need to be able to trust you too.”

“I understand that.”

“Good, because if we’re going to continue playing like that, we need to communicate at a really high level.”

“Did, I mean, am I … are you enjoying it?”

He wraps his hand around my neck and pulls me close. “I’ve never enjoyed anything more.”

It makes me giddy, but I’m still a little disbelieving. “Are you sure? I know I’m so inexperienced.”

This makes him chuckle. “I think you and I had practice in another dimension or something, because fuck, we’re amazing together.” He gives me a quick kiss on the lips before releasing me.

We continue to talk about our likes and dislikes. I don’t really know what my dislikes are because I haven’t experienced much. Brody doesn’t seem to mind.

“All I know is I like it when you’re in control. When you lead. It feels safe, yet exciting.”

He runs his hand up and down my spine, and I don’t think I’ve ever been so relaxed. “I like to dominate in the bedroom. I love that you trust me to take care of you.”

“Sometimes I … well, I like that you scare me a little. Like not in a bad way, just … oh, I don’t know.”

“Yes, you do. Just tell me, Daisy. I’m not going to judge you.”

“It’s like being frightened while watching a scary movie, but you know you’re safe at home on your couch. I like that you keep me guessing and a little scared at times, but I know I’m completely safe with you. I’ve never not felt safe with you.”

“I think I understand what you’re saying.”

It feels good to tell him these things. I guess it makes it all feel a little less confusing. He sees me, and unbelievably our desires seem to match up.

Brody leans over and grabs a book from the bedside table. “There is a list of kinks in here. Maybe we can go through it?”

“Sure.”

We sit beside each other, looking at it together. “Wow, I don’t even know what some of these things are.”

He’s patient and explains everything. Some things he doesn’t even know. We skip over those. It seems we are on the same page on almost everything.

“Blood play,” he says reading down the list. My heart starts to beat loudly in my ears. When I don’t answer, he explains it further. “I’ve never tried it, but I think it might be a hard limit for me.”

I breathe a sigh of relief.

He pauses, running his eyes over me. “Is it something you’d like to try?”

“No,” I say quickly. The thought makes my stomach turn. “Hard limit for me too.”

He cups his palm over my cheek. “I couldn’t mark your beautiful skin. Other than reddening that cute booty of yours.”

I lean into his hand. “I’m excited to explore this with you. Not just the intimate stuff, but everything.”

He pulls me onto his lap and kisses me long and slow. It’s sensual and sure. When he pulls away, he smiles. “I hate that Paris wasn’t everything you imagined, but I love that you came back to me.”

“I’ve been thinking about where I go from here. I gave up my apartment. I should probably start looking for a place to live.”

“Well, you could come home with me. I can’t wait to introduce you to everyone. After that, we’ll figure it out together. Don’t think you’re getting away from me this time.” He places a finger under my chin and holds my gaze.

“I don’t think I could ever say goodbye to you,” I admit.

“You don’t have to.”
