Page 29 of Silver (Shunned Mages #2)

Wilston

I held Silver in my arms as he came down from his orgasm. He was wiped out and I loved having done that to him. There was just one thing he needed to see before he could truly rest.

“Darling,” I said, my hand holding his cheek to look at him. His eyes opened and a bigger smile formed on his lips. “I need you to check something for me.”

He frowned, clearly confused but also curious. “Oh, okay,” he replied, trying to gain his strength back in his legs. I didn’t explain further, just picked him up, his legs around my waist. “Oh! Fuck. New future position, please.”

I laughed, damn he was perfect. “Can you see the pink diamond?” I asked, trying to remain as calm as possible.

“Um, yes. It’s, like, huge compared to the others.”

“Do you mind grabbing it for me?” I asked, biting my lip.

“Sure,” he stretched and pulled it out easily. I moved him back to the ground slowly. “Here,” he said, giving me the diamond. I closed my hand around it.

“Thanks.” Then I kneeled and opened my hand, presenting him with a ring.

I’d practiced a lot while he drove with Julie, knowing I should’ve rested, but the work had paid off.

I knew exactly how it should look, making it easy to quickly create the perfect white gold band around the pink diamond, adding two small white diamonds on the band, too.

He stared at my hand, a small tremble in his hands the only indication that he knew what it meant.

We were already bonded, but it was normal for mages to propose before a binding ceremony.

We’d skipped all of that because we were soulmatches.

But that didn’t mean my Silver didn’t deserve a ring.

And I’d made it white gold to match his hair, the diamond his favorite color of pink, and the extra diamonds just because one can never have too many diamonds.

“I love you so much,” he whispered, tears leaking down his cheeks, not like only minutes before where they came from pleasure and desperation. Now, his tears were of joy and love.

“I love you, too,” I said, glad we’d finally spoken those words out loud. “Do you like it?” He still hadn’t taken it from my hand so I was a little nervous that I’d somehow messed it up.

“I love it, babe. I love it. I’m just shaking a little and I’m afraid I’ll drop it.

” I chuckled and rose to my feet. I was tired from before, but also glad I managed to think that this would be the perfect time to propose.

I’d planned on making another tub with the diamonds on the side, mimicking our binding night, but this turned out perfect, too.

I took his shaking hand in mine and slowly eased the ring onto his finger. It was a little loose, so I tightened it with my magic, making it a perfect fit. My darling looked good wearing his diamonds.

His smile was glorious as he looked down at his finger, the diamond glinting in the darkening light outside.

“How does it look?” he asked, showing it off.

“Like it was made for you,” I replied with a grin.

He shook his head and kissed me.

I was so damn happy he was mine.

“Wakey wakey,” Xarius said, his tone filled with humor.

We’d gone back inside and napped on the couch, our sleep schedules all messed up from sleeping whenever possible the days before.

It seemed like it was morning now, which was a nice sight.

Maybe that meant we’d all gathered enough energy to master the portal today.

Silver grunted and burrowed further into my side, hiding beneath the covers. I smiled and kissed his hair, loving how adorable he was.

“Julie made us breakfast,” Niam said, looking well-rested and ready for the day. Looking over at Xarius, he had the same glow to him. We should’ve been better at taking care of ourselves, no wonder the portal wouldn’t work with us so low on energy.

We pulled some clothes on, not that we slept naked, but no one except for me was seeing Silver in one of his lace panties. They were for my eyes only. I didn’t care if they saw me in my boxers, but Silver did, so I figured pants would be a good thing.

We joined the others outside on the wooden furniture. It smelled fantastic; whatever it was Julie had made.

“Good morning!” Julie greeted us with a huge bowl of something. “I made oatmeal! And thanks to Xar we have so many berries.”

Xarius looked disappointed, Niam, too, but Silver and I were excited for some oatmeal.

“I wish we had some honey or syrup,” Altair said, joining us eagerly with a bowl for himself.

“I can make sugarcanes,” I replied, knowing it wouldn’t do much.

“Nah, it’s fine,” he replied. “I just miss honey. Maybe I’ll buy some when we go shopping next.”

I frowned, then thought about my power with the animals. I let out my power, seeking some birds nearby. I felt several but chose one and called it to me. The others were oblivious to this since I could command them with my mind alone.

A small brown bird flew down and sat on my arm, waiting for my command. I told it to seek out a beehive and then it flew off.

“Um, okay,” Julie said, looking at me weirdly. I remembered we hadn’t discussed our powers with her, or with Altair yet, but I just shrugged, not caring to elaborate right now.

Since no one decided to fill her in, she just rolled her eyes and scooped out oatmeal for all of us. She had three bowls with different berries, but I just picked the blueberries and strawberries, since they were my favorites.

My little friend returned and told me there was one beehive nearby.

I thanked it for its service and gave it a blueberry as thanks.

It flew off happily with the berry and I smiled after it.

It felt nice trying out my special power.

But now I was on to the next part. Using the location the bird had given me, I felt with my earth magic where the tree with the beehive was located.

Then I took Silver’s hand in mine, guiding my earth magic to show him what I was searching for.

He gasped, feeling it, too. I tried to show him mentally what I was planning for him to do, hoping it worked.

I got a visual back that showed me he understood.

Still holding hands to share powers, Silver used his special ability to move the beehive over to us, ridding it of bees while I made a new home for them to fill with honey, in the same place the old hive had been. Silver hadn’t taken all the honey, making it easier for the bees to rebuild.

A floating beehive came into view, with no bees, thank God for that, and Silver easily dumped it beside the table, waving his hand towards it. “There you go, Altair.”

The others looked at us in stunned silence until Niam broke it with a squeal.

“You got a ring!”

Silver looked at his hand like he’d completely forgotten it, then showed it off proudly. I knew a diamond that size wouldn’t be forgotten that easily, but I loved how proudly he showed it off to the others.

“When?!” Niam demanded, holding Silver’s hand to see it better.

“Yesterday,” Silver replied with a beaming smile.

“I need all the details,” Niam demanded, scooting closer to Silver, his breakfast forgotten as Silver began telling him with way too many details how I’d given him the ring. I was just smiling like a lovesick fool as I heard the story from his point of view.

Xarius shot daggers at me, but I just shrugged with a sheepish smile. He’d had plenty of time to put a ring on Niam’s finger. Not my fault. Okay, so he had a lot less time to play around with rings since he was driving. But still.

“I want one, too!” Niam said, bumping Xarius’s arm.

“Anything you want, baby,” Xarius quickly answered, giving him the sexiest smile I’d ever seen on him. It seemed to work on Niam, who stood and pulled Xarius back inside the RV.

“Maybe we should,” I began, but Silver held up his hand.

“Already made a silencing ward. I do not want to hear them while I eat,” he said, scooping up a few blackberries, humming with pleasure as he ate the warm oatmeal.

“This is amazing!” Altair said, having cleaned out some of the honey. “Can you make some glass jars?”

I nodded. “I can, but they’ll have to have cork on top, does that work?”

He nodded eagerly. “That’ll be perfect!”

I made him four glass jars all with fitting cork tops. And he got to work filling them with honey.

“I can help you filter them, if you want?” I offered, knowing he had to strain it so it would be clean.

“I would love that!”

And so, I began to filter honey with our newest family member.
