Labored groans pulled me from my thoughts.
“Look, man… just let me go. I promise I won’t say anything.” The way his voice cracked was pathetic. “I never got back to my boss about that night. He would have had my head had he known I fucked up and left a witness.”
I pulled up a chair and sat about arm’s length in front of him, one ankle resting on my knee. “Now, Andy, what kind of a man would I be if I just let you go? What? You go back to Belov and open your mouth about my girl? I can’t have that.” I leaned forward. “And how will you explain the loss of all your fingers and your missing dick?”
He looked at me with confusion, eyes in slits, partly due to swelling.
“Fuck. Please don’t.”
“Don’t worry. You won’t need it where you’re going.”
I snatched a cleaver from the table, and he thrashed violently, cursing and screaming for help.
“No one will hear you, so I suggest you conserve your energy,” I said, peering at him from behind the blade. “I’m just getting started.”
He gurgled out a pained laugh. “You’re a real… piece of work, aren’t you? Like we’re any diff—Aaahh!”
“Hold that thought,” I said, dragging my blade across his torso before wrenching it free. “Looks like I have a guest.”
“Oh…shit.” The contents of his abdomen spilled out, hitting the floor with a satisfying squelch.
Our cleanup crew had their work cut out for them.
I watched the tall figure in the live-feed surveillance video, and a smile lifted the corners of my mouth. In all the day’s chaos, I’d forgotten Kai was coming by this evening. Using a towel, I wiped at the splatters of blood on my arms and chest before bringing the cloth to my face. “Sit tight, friend.”
Andrey began wailing when I stepped away, his cries for help echoing around us until the door slammed shut behind me.
Silence.
I wiped my hands one last time before unlocking and opening the front door.
“Oh. Bad time?” Kai asked, eyes moving from the top of my head to the crimson stains on my fingers.
“Just a little personal business. Come in.”
He arched a dark brow and shook his head, a grin finally cracking across his face. “It’s always business with you, isn’t it?” he said, clapping me on the back.
Kai was my brother in everything but blood. We had come from the same shit foster home, adopted by the same bastard. And ultimately trained into the same type of ruthless monster. However, he was the voice of reason between the two.
“Pour yourself a drink and make yourself at home. I’m going to go get cleaned up.”
He already had the decanter of whiskey in hand. “You know me,” he said, lifting a cut glass before bringing it to his mouth.
By the time I showered and returned to the main floor of the range, Kai was nowhere to be found. I didn’t have to venture a guess as to where he’d gone.
“This doesn’t look likebusinessto me,” he said, his back to the door as he studied Andrey’s slumped and motionless body. “He’s dead, by the way. But he did mumble something about a ‘bitch with a tight ass.’ Kai turned to me as he downed the last swig of his drink. “What the fuck was this poor bastard talking about, D? Couldn’t be that chick from this morning.”
His eyes moved between me and the bloodied corpse, attempting to put the pieces together. There were no secrets between us. We’d been through more shit together than I cared to reminisce about. And we’d saved each other in more ways than I could ever repay him. He’s the only person I gave a single fuck about—that thought swirled in my head for a moment, the face of another breaking through my thoughts.
While Kai knew of James’s fate, Eva was the one detail I’d left out. But it was time to come clean. After all, he would be in town for a few weeks.
“Damn,” he said, drinking from his twice-refilled glass of whiskey. “So, what’s your plan? Fuck this girl. Then what?”
Fuck her until I’ve had my complete fill. Until my cum dripped from every orifice of her body. Until I’d branded her as mine, and she was utterly ruined for any other man. I’d never wanted to sink my cock in a pussy as much as I wanted—no—needed hers.
Then what?
“She’s wealthy. Take what I want from her and move on.”
