Lucien

It’s finally Friday night. The deals are done. Next time, Dante can do this on his own. We are about an hour away from home, and I pull out my phone, scrolling to Varek’s name.

I call him.

No answer.

I call him again.

No fucking answer.

I ball my fist and smash it into the window. Something feels off. I didn’t call him to check in on her because Varek has always been a straight-up guy. He never does anything stupid. But not answering the phone when I call him? That’s fucking stupid.

Pain explodes in my knuckles, but I ignore it. I’m too blind with rage to care if I have shards of glass in my knuckles.

Dante stands next to me, running his hand through his hair.

“What the fuck, man?” He sounds annoyed.

“He’s not fucking answering!” I yell.

I pace back and forth, thinking of what I am supposed to do next.

“Let’s go,” Dante says casually.

I stare at him, dumbfounded.

“Get in the fucking car. We will find her.”

I stop pacing, clenching my fists at my side, my jaw tenses. I feel full of rage. Whoever ends up on the other side of my wrath might not make it out alive, especially if they have touched what’s mine.

I get in the car, sitting on small pieces of glass, but I don’t fucking care. All that I care about is having my little Siren back. She belongs to me, goddammit.

“Fucking drive,” I say to Dante as he watches my internal war.

If anyone wins at war, it’ll be me.

We pull up to Varek’s house, and Varek’s cars are here. I get out, slamming the door shut, and approach the door. He wasn’t expecting me back until tomorrow afternoon.

I go to the front door and I don’t knock. I kick the door in, splintering the frame. I step through he broken wood and look around. No one in the main living area.

I walk down the hallway, looking in the rooms. Nothing. I open the door where I left my little Siren. Nothing. My blood courses through my veins, searing the insides like a brand. A fucking promise to kill whoever the fuck took her.

I’ll fucking kill him.

I stormed throughout the house, searching for him. I can’t fucking find him. The last place to check is out back.

I go out his back patio door, and lo and behold, Varek is sitting in a chair getting his dick sucked.

“What the fuck man?!” I shout.

He pales, looking as if he has seen a ghost.

“Y-y-you weren’t supposed to be back yet,” he trips over his words as the whore Nicolette pulls herself off of him.

“Where is she?” I ball my fists at my sides, ready to attack at any moment.

He looks down at the ground, avoiding my question.

“Where the fuck is she?!” I scream. My veins throb in my neck as I fry my vocal cords.

“She’s gone man. Miles showed up, and he took her. Held me at gunpoint.”

My laugh booms around us.

“You expect me to believe that fucking pedophile held you at gunpoint to get a piece of ass he has already had? Yeah fucking right.”

Dante stands behind him, pressing a gun into the back of his head.

“Okay, okay. Calm down. Let’s talk about it.”

“I’m not going to fucking calm down. You fucking lied to me. We had a deal,” I shout.

“Knock him out!” I call out to Dante. Dante takes his gun, smacking it into Varek’s temple. The whore next to him shrieks. She starts to run, but I am faster. I chase after her, tackling her to the ground.

Dante rushes over and hogties her. Fuck this bitch.

“Let’s take them to the compound. We need to figure out what the fuck happened.”

“I’ll call Silas. See if he can get his guys searching.”

I nod. Silas has always been good at finding people.

We get into the car and throw them both in the back, tied up and gagged. We had a fucking deal. He had to fuck up the entire plan. They will wish for nothing more than a quick death.

That’s why I won’t give it to them.
