Page 20 of Ruthlessly Mated (Shared Mates #2)
T ailor
This has been a day of diplomacy, and subtle attempts to rein our mate in, but ultimately we’ve decided to just get her the hell out of this city.
I’m slightly annoyed, because the vampire is no doubt on our tail and we have managed to waste most of the day with this bickering, the public thrashing, the general chaos of trying to be together.
I slip out while Kita is distracted with the other two in order to find a way out of the city.
Part of their hysteria around vampires and werewolves means that the walls are closed at night.
The gates are sealed and manned with guards.
These people are absolutely vigilant against a threat that might never come, and I admire them greatly.
I can see the gates from the vantage point of the apartment Kita rented.
She picked a good spot. She is a canny operator.
If she had not been caught at the port, she might very well have managed to pull this entire heist off without being detected at all.
I suspect the vampire knows where his maker’s heart is through his senses.
She’s far from stupid, our little mate. She’s smart and she’s reckless, which is a terrifying combination because I don’t think she cares about consequences at all.
Conroy’s repeated punishments have done absolutely nothing to her.
She has not become even slightly more submissive as a result.
If anything, the more he dominates her, the more she fights back.
I straighten my waistcoat and head to the nearest gate.
It is time to gather a little intel. I approach a guard at the gate, a tall young man who seems to be taking himself very seriously.
He looks at me down his nose, which involves him having to tilt his head back.
He is wearing two gold badges, one with a set of vampire fangs, the other with a set of wolf fangs, both of them with lines through them.
They are set on the lapels of a very fetching black uniform that must be absolutely hell to wear during the day, though now that I think about it, the day uniforms are a rust red.
Impressive. I do appreciate attention to detail.
“When will the gates open in the morning, sir?”
They like it when you call them sir.
“Won’t be opening,” he says. “Curfew is in full effect. Return to your place of residence immediately.”
“Oh, of course. May I ask why? I must have missed the information. Very sorry.”
He gives me a look like I am an idiot. I fantasize about ripping his throat out. I could use a little respect from someone. I’m starting to feel as though there’s a distinct lack of respect of late. I’d take a please, or maybe a thank you.
“City’s been shut down. Gates are closed. Nobody is getting in or out.”
“And why is that?”
He sighs, as if he is thoroughly annoyed by the fact I am asking for actual information. He thinks citizens should do as they are told, no matter what. He’d no doubt bayonet me for the fun of it if I gave him much more of an excuse—and if he had a bayonet.
“We’ve received word that a vampire army is marching on us. We don’t want people panicking and leaving, becoming prey for the vampires, or worse, being turned into them. UV is going to be running around the clock. We’re redoubling the silvering.”
“Sounds like you have it under control. We’ve just come through making deliveries though, and we’re expected further up the coast…”
“Nobody gets in or out. Lord Forthrill has ordered a complete quarantine. We won’t be opening the city until we’re sure the vampire threat has been neutralized.”
“So… until morning? They can’t walk during the day, can they? Vampires?”
“Complete and total shutdown until further notice.”
“Thank you,” I say. “Good to know we will all be safe.”
I go back to the apartment at a quick clip, hopefully making the guard feel as though I am doing as he told me. That will please him. Give him a real sense of achievement.
We’ve got to get out of here before that army reaches the gates.
There is no way this city is going to stand against a vampire army.
They think they’re prepared, but having looked into the eyes of Alexander, and having experienced true horror and terror at his hands, I know very well that these people have no choice.
They’re trapping us, and everyone here, in like rodents. People are going to start panicking soon enough, once they realize that the vampires, their greatest fears, are on the way. It’s going to get messy.
I go back to the little rented house and try to work out how to give the news.
“Ow, fuck, yes, fuck, god…”
The sound of a female wolf being given a good fucking tickles my instincts before I reach the house.
A cool breeze flows from the desert, bringing with it the unmistakable sweet musk of feminine arousal.
It is completely out of the realm of human senses to detect, but if they could, they would know for absolute certain that a werewolf was in their midst, being bred most mercilessly as far as I can tell.
I walk inside and sure enough, Kita is bent over the kitchen table, her ass reddened from a recent spanking, and Conroy’s cock deep inside her. The expression on her face is nothing short of ecstatic.
Those two may not get on outside the bedroom, or in this case, the kitchen table, but they get on very fucking well when they’re fucking.
I find myself smiling. It’s nice to see the connection building. And it is pretty fucking hot seeing her be taken roughly and firmly the way she needs to be. She’s so much softer, so much happier with a thick cock inside her.
He finishes inside her with a roar and pulls her down on his knot, keeping her in his lap with one arm draped around her waist. She is quiet for the moment, half-clothed, well-fucked, and trapped where she needs to be trapped.
“Give me some good news,” Conroy says, his voice pretty steady given the fact he is buried knot-deep in our mate.
“We can’t get out. They’ve shut the city and intend to enforce a quarantine. There’s a vampire army approaching. Alexander is on the march.”
“That’s not good news,” he growls while Kita squirms in place, looking quite pleased with the turn of events.
“Good,” she says. “Though it won’t be Alexander. He’ll still be in pieces. It will be his generals. If anything he’d be commanding them as a smear. Whoever is marching on the city, it’s not him. Alexander is going to take a while to get himself together.”
“You might be underestimating the regenerative powers of that vampire. He is ancient and while you did severely injure him, he wasn’t exactly a smear. He was more…”
“A puddle?” She giggles. I see Conroy wince because his cock is inside her malevolent pussy.
“Injured,” he says.
We are trapped in a hostile city with an explosive vampire’s heart, a population who want us dead, and a vampire who will not rest until he has reclaimed the relic and probably killed us just for good measure.
Kita has been smiling from the get-go, a smile that only widens as we discuss the many terrible ways in which this could all go wrong.
As Conroy’s knot softens, she wriggles free, redressing herself by pulling her pants up over her cum-soaked sex.
She barely blushes, she is so pleased with herself and this turn of events.
“Stop. Smirking,” Conroy growls, smacking her ass with the flat of his palm. “What is so damn funny to you?”
“This is perfect!”
“How is this perfect?”
“They’re going to open war with humanity. This isn’t going to go well for them, is it? One ancient vampire against an entire city of violent bigots? The outcome is predetermined. They’re going to meet their doom.”
I can tell that answer does nothing to calm Conroy.
“Sometimes love is being dragged into an elaborate revenge plot against an ancient evil, and I think we just have to accept that,” I interject in dry tones.
Conroy glowers at me. “You’re encouraging her. She doesn’t need to be allowed to fight vampires. She needs to be spanked, mated, bred, and taught that there is such a thing as a normal life.”
“Is that what the plan was? To keep her in the port and have babies there?” I am playing devil’s advocate now, a foolish thing given the devil needs no help in this matter.
“Why not?”
“You wanted to raise pups in a place where criminals routinely murder each other? Where would they have played? In the bar among the traffickers and the smugglers?”
“You really want me to breed you a litter?” Kita laughs. “They’d be the worst behaved, most feral little fuckers ever to draw breath. I’d make sure of it.”
Damon smirks by the stove. I didn’t notice him there.
It’s amazing how he can blend in simply by being still.
He is one of the most accomplished spies I have ever met.
Conroy is not amused. I have worked out that Kita likes to wind people up.
She’s putting on a show for Conroy’s complete lack of amusement.
“You’re going to be tamed,” he says, grabbing her around the waist and pulling her back into his lap. “And we are getting out of this city. We’ll leave the truck here, we’ll let the vampire kill these bigots, and we’ll escape in our wolf forms.”
“I don’t want to leave the truck here,” she pouts. “I didn’t go to all this trouble to leave it behind. It has a buyer.”
“Who the hell is buying the heart of Alexander’s maker?”
“I don’t know. Secret buyer through a back channel. But they’re paying fifty million, so I intend to deliver.”
“Fifty million?”
“Yes. Enough to never have to work again. Enough to be able to buy a fucking island if I want to, and fill it with ponies. Or buy a nice house in Eclipse City. The new king is very cool, I heard.”
We’ve all heard tales of the new king in Eclipse. He came to power recently amid a bloodbath led by his mate, a scrappy little thing who grew up barely knowing who she was. The story has been doing the rounds ever since the coronation. The king shares his mate with two others as well.
