Wren
After we shower, Elliot pulls me into a hot bath, saying something about not wanting me to be too sore tomorrow. I’m exhausted and all I want to do is sleep, but that also means I’m too tired to protest.
Elliot helps me into the tub, and I sink into the water in between his legs. It reminds me so much of the first couple of nights I spent with them, barely even a week ago.
Jesus Christ. It’s only been a week?
So much has happened. I’ve settled into the feeling of fitting with Elliot, Rhett, and Oliver. Tuesday certainly flipped everything around, but it’s not like I didn’t know what I was getting myself into. Somewhat. They told me their lifestyle was dangerous. So I wasn’t too surprised when I got pulled into it.
It was still a lot to handle at once, though. And I definitely didn’t expect that one of their main goals in life is to tear apart a certain man’s life.
But that certain man happens to deserve it.
My heart squeezes when I remember the pain in Rhett’s eyes at the club. Finding out that Holloway killed Sammy, having to watch him relive the agony of losing her, it was heartbreaking.
Elliot strokes his fingers down my arm, and I moan, too tired to try and make conversation.
He lets out a low, amused sound. “You’re falling asleep again, aren’t you?”
“No,” I say, my eyelids drooping. “But if I was, it’s your fault.” I yawn. “You fucked all the energy right out of me.”
He presses a kiss to my hair, and I settle against him. So warm. So comforting. So… yes.
My feelings for these men keep growing, stretching into an endless abyss that I’m tumbling further and further into.
The thing is, I realize as I begin to fall asleep with my head on Elliot’s chest, I don’t think I ever want to stop falling.
