Page 4 of Ruining Him
There’s a hush over the crowd as everyone stares on in disbelief, myself included.
Lana separates herself from the two men who carried her away and glares at the faces staring at her around the room. She can’t see me from where I’m hidden, and I’m sure she has no idea that someone from the university is here to witness this.
Witness the beauty of whatever the hell that was.
She turns and storms from the room.
I had planned to fight tonight, to exorcize my own demons, but like a gravitational pull, I can’t stop myself from following after her.
TWO
LANA
This asshole is getting on my last nerve.
As if it wasn’t bad enough having his eyes constantly seeking me out in that godforsaken school and him then turning up mid fight, now he seems intent on following me back to the university.
I haven’t let on that I know he’s following me, and I purposely kept my gaze away from him when I looked around the room after the fight was over. Just like every time I feel his eyes on me when he walks into a room, I purposely don’t look his way. I have no idea what his problem is with me, but it’ll be me having the problem if he keeps going the way he is.
It isn’t a long walk back to BU, and I purposely keep to the shadows, not wanting to attract any more attention than I already have, before I slip down a side street and lean my back against the wall, waiting for him.
He rounds the corner, a frown on his face when he doesn’t spot me. Honestly, he’s really no good at this whole stalking thing.
I step forward, the glow from the streetlight making me visible, and I watch as he freezes in place, only to recover and give me a wicked smirk.
“Lana James,” he hums, and I stalk towards him.
“Cole Aston,” I purr, making his eyes widen as though he didn’t expect me to know who he is. I continue striding towards him and he steps back until he’s up against the wall.
He gets a determined look in his eyes before he grabs me and flips us around so he’s the one crowding me against the wall, and he looks down at me.
“Seems you have some secrets, princess,” he mutters as his eyes roam over my body. I’m bruised and bleeding from letting that guy Tyger think he had the upper hand for a minute, but it’s nothing that won’t heal in a few days’ time.
“Doesn’t everyone?” I respond, and he brings his eyes back to mine. His hand finds my throat, and I work to keep my heartbeat steady beneath his palm, not wanting him to know how much he’s affecting me.
“Seems they do,” he murmurs. “So, how about you let me in on some of your other secrets. Like who the hell you are.”
Anddd that’s enough of that.
He must see my intentions written all over my face because he lets me go, taking a step back.
“Don’t do it,” he warns, and of course I don’t listen. Instead, I kick out my leg, wrapping it around both of his, and put all my weight into him so we both go crashing to the floor. I scramble to my feet quicker than he can gather his bearings and press my cute leather boot to his throat.
“If I find you following me again, we’re gonna have problems. Understand?”
He coughs a little, and I loosen the pressure I have on hisneck so he can speak. “I understand you’re no princess. You’re a fucking menace.”
I grin savagely down at him, it only widening when he glares.
“Iwillfind out what you’re hiding, Lana.”
I chuckle. “You’re welcome to try.”
THREE
COLE
Istorm into the cottage for the second time today, even more pissed than I was the first time.
