“No, the baby’s father isn’t a part of our lives. He doesn’t want a baby. And since I refused to get rid of it to keep him, he packed and left.”
The four seemed to freeze, and then outraged looks came over their faces. The men scowled, and the ladies expressed sympathy tinged with disgust.
“The bastard wanted you to get rid of the baby to keep him?” Aidan asked.
“Yes, he did. He gave her an ultimatum after blasting her for getting pregnant. He acted as if she did it on purpose, and he had no part in it, the weasel shit bastard,” I muttered. Any mention of him put me in a vengeful mood.
The guys burst out laughing as the ladies giggled. Aurora was used to my attitude toward Fitch. She just smiled slightly and shook her head.
When they stopped laughing, Alistair remarked, “So, with him not helping, I assume you and your family are doing it all. I’m sorry, Aurora. I agree with Gianna. He’s a weasel shit bastard.”
“That’s for sure. I hope he’s at least preparing for child support,” Aidan added.
I didn’t know how much Aurora was willing to share. She’d just met them. As for me, I would’ve blurted out anything. It made Fitch out to be the asshole and loser, not her.
“No, he’s not planning to pay. If I want anything from him, I have to take him to court, according to him.
He made it clear that even if I do, he’ll find a way not to pay.
He claims that since he doesn’t want it, this baby is all my responsibility.
I’m not even allowed to put his name on the birth certificate.
As for my family helping, my birth one isn’t one you can or should rely on.
Gianna and the DeSantis men are my family.
They’re incredible to me, us. This baby will be loved and cared for,” she said fiercely as she rubbed her stomach.
“You’re fortunate to have them. You said your baby shower is on Sunday. Is the nursery all set up?” Karizma asked.
“I know what I want, but I haven’t ordered it. I need to get a move on it. Gia and her brothers painted and decorated it for me. I wasn’t allowed near the fumes. It’s adorable.”
This statement somehow led to them discussing the nursery further.
Aisling and Karizma asked to see pictures of it and what Aurora wanted for the furniture when she got it, which she had pictures of.
My family and I were buying it, and I needed to get it done before Aurora did it. She had no clue we were.
While they chatted, Alistair leaned closer to me. In a low voice, he asked, “What are you going to do to Weasel Shit?”
I gave him an innocent look. “Do? I don’t know what you mean.”
He snorted. “Don’t try to kid me. I’ve seen you in action, Gianna. There’s no way you’ll let him get away with treating your friend so callously.”
I let my innocent act drop, and my vengeful one showed.
“I plan to destroy his fucking life and his entire world. His pain will last at least eighteen years, if not longer. I’m glad he’s gone.
I never liked him, but I can’t forgive or forget the hurt he caused and how he’s treating his baby.
I keep telling her she’ll find someone to treat her and the baby right. She doesn’t believe it.”
“Why is that?” he asked.
“She thinks men don’t go for single moms with kids. I say there are some.”
“She’s wrong. Karizma had Khloe before they met. Kynedi had Cassius before she met Tiernan. They are loved and treated the same as a natural-born child. She shouldn’t give up hope. And it can happen anytime, so she should keep her eyes open.”
I nodded in agreement. There was more chatter for several minutes before the music became too much to resist. I wanted to dance and circulate.
I hoped being up here wouldn’t prevent me from floating to the other floors.
I doubted there would be any likely candidates for my future man up here.
I wasn’t wealthy or successful enough for them.
Wouldn’t they die to know a bounty hunter was on their exclusive floor?
“I hate to interrupt, but I’ve got to dance. If I want to go to the other floors, will I be unable to come back up here? Aurora, you can stay and chat if you want. I know your feet hurt.”
“No, the security knows your face and will allow you back. Feel free to go anywhere. And yes, Aurora, if you want to stay here, please do,” Aidan stated.
“Thank you, I’d love to, but I promised Gia I’d be her wing woman tonight. She hates going out alone.”
I wanted to groan at her telling them that. Typically, I wouldn’t care, but something made me not want to tell them. Speculation entered their gazes.
“Wing woman? Are you looking for a man, Gianna?” Aisling asked.
Nonchalantly, I shrugged. “I’m not opposed if the right one came along. I’m more about having a good time tonight and blowing off steam. It’s been a busy week.”
“Then we should get you dancing. We’ll go to the floor with you if you don’t mind. The pregnant ladies might have to take a break, but I can use the exercise. I still have baby weight to get rid of,” Karizma said.
“You don’t need to shed anything. You’re beautiful and sexy. I love the changes Bran made to your body,” Aidan assured her instantly. He was rewarded with a kiss.
“The more the merrier. Will you guys be alright if we steal your wives?” I asked as I stood.
“We’ll be fine. Watching them dance is always a pleasure,” Alistair assured me.
Aidan and Karizma had stopped kissing. He was able to grin and nod. The other women got to their feet, and together, we headed to the dance floor. The music was pumping through my veins. I had to dance. Tonight, Gianna was letting go.
