Dance The Night Away
After we took a million pictures, it was time to entertain our guests and head to the back of the property where we set up for the reception.
Round tables adorn the yard with black and deep red tablecloths and black porcelain dinnerware along with deep red tall candlesticks and the correct roses I ordered.
Fairy lights twinkle above us with drop down red tear drops making it look like the sky is bleeding. The whole vibe is perfection.
Glancing over at Jade on the dance floor with Hazel and Dario brings a smile to my face.
I never thought I’d get a happy ending. Never thought I’d even be alive long enough to have children, let alone marry the girl of my dreams. Despite the cake being wrong and the flowers being carnations, everything else was perfect.
I can put my Bridezilla away and enjoy the evening with the ones I love.
Little hands pull at the bottom of my pants, and I look down to see Prince.
Smiling at him, I scoop his little body into my arms and head for the dance floor.
Shaking my hips, I dance with Prince beside my wife, then hand him to her and scoop up Hazel.
God, I love this little girl to pieces. The innocence, the purity that drips from her is so fucking beautiful, but when she smiles her eyes light up with darkness and I see, I see what’s there.
She’s got a taste for blood, and when she gets older, I’m going to have to teach her the right way to handle it all. I’ve got her though, always.
Flynn walks over, and the DJ announces its time for the father—daughter dance, and we step off the dance floor as Ophelia comes over to take the kids.
“It’s time for bed, guys,” she says, and I smile at her as she hands me Preston. I look down at his big blue eyes as he wiggles in my hold and then yawns.
“I think he’s getting sleepy,” I say, pressing my lips against his head.
Getting a whiff of his baby scent brings a smile to my face knowing my wife is pregnant again, and I’m betting it's mine. I’m a little concerned that she was drinking last night and that it could affect the baby, but the doc says she’s still early and I shouldn’t worry too much.
They don’t know that when I went to use the bathroom I had lied and called the doc just to double-check.
“Thanks, Lucinda is here to help so you don’t miss the fun,” I tell her, handing Preston over to her, and she nods.
“Yes, I’m just going to get them comfortable. I’ll let Rafe know to keep guard,” she tells me.
“I see Hayden is here,” I say with a raised brow, and her eyes widen.
“Be nice. He’s Kingston’s father,” she says, and I smirk.
“Oh, I’m well aware but he needs an ass-beating,” I say, and she laughs.
“Not tonight though,” she giggles, and I laugh as she walks away, but Jaxon comes to stand in front of me with his arms folded.
“Why can’t I stay? I was having fun!” he huffs, and I laugh, taking a sip of the drink I created called “Blood Queen.”
“Because it’s time for bed and it’s adult time. Tomorrow, I have a surprise for you. So be a good boy and go help Aunt Ophelia,” I say sternly, and he huffs again, stomping his feet as my phone buzzes in my pocket.
“But I’m not tired,” he replies, and I look at him with narrowed eyes and his widen. He knows I mean business.
“Don’t make me repeat myself, son, go!” I say, and he whines, running away.
My phone buzzes again, but I ignore it as the song ends and Jade’s eyes collide with mine and I grin.
She jerks her head for me to come over as the next song plays.
I get up from my seat and walk over to her.
Wrapping my arms around her waist, I spin her, causing her to giggle.
“You look gorgeous tonight, Princess. I’m a lucky motherfucker to score a girl like you. ” I smirk, and she giggles again.
“Yes, you are Caveman, and I’m betting this baby growing inside me is yours. You’ve made it your mission to fill every hole of mine since Preston’s been born, so that’s my guess.” She smirks, and I grin.
“Any names yet?” I ask, and she smacks my chest.
“I’ve only been pregnant for like five minutes,” she answers as we glide across the dance floor. I don’t think she realizes how great of a dancer she is. She just moves around with me so naturally.
“Priest,” I suggest, and her eyes light up.
“I like that. I like that a lot. But what if it’s a girl?” she asks.
“Haylee?” I ask, and she wrinkles her nose.
“Not strong enough. But we have time. Where did Spade go?” she asks, and I shrug, looking around for him.
“Over there.” I point. “He’s sitting with the Cyprus brothers,” I say and she smiles.
“It’s really cool seeing another dynamic like ours. Makes it less weird,” she answers, and I laugh, dipping her.
“Are you calling us weird?” I ask, and she nods.
“Definitely am,” she says, resting her head against my chest.
“Tired baby? The night has just begun.” She looks up at me, and I lean down, pressing my lips against hers.
“Don’t you start. It’s hard enough to get into this dress,” she huffs, and I laugh.
“I can’t wait to see what’s under it.” I taunt, and her eyes light up. “Insatiable as always,” I grin as the song ends. My phone buzzes in my pocket once again as Dario steps in and takes my place.
Walking off the dance floor, I head for the bar to grab a drink, taking my phone out to see I have an email.
Opening it, my eyes widen, and I grin. Finally!
I head for the house, but something seems off.
I don’t see any guards anywhere, and the hair on the back of my neck stands.
I look around but catch nothing, so I keep walking and enter the garage and head right for my workroom.
Unlocking it and opening the door, I go to the fridge and take out a few syringes.
Slipping them into my pocket, I leave the same way I entered, locking the door behind me.
Exiting the garage, I notice the music has stopped and there’s shouting in the distance. Moving quickly towards the crowd, I stop in my tracks when I see who is pointing their weapons at my wife and father-in-law. Not fucking tonight!
