Dario
Truth Be Told
“Fuck this!” I yell, spinning and heading back up the driveway.
“D, what's the plan here? You know she will shoot us and not think twice about it!” Spade says, and I laugh, rounding on him.
“Oh, I know and I don’t give a fuck. I’d rather die at her hand than anywhere else. But I am not fucking leaving here tonight. For once in her life, she needs to grow the fuck up and let us explain!” I yell, turning again, walking over the dead bodies littered everywhere.
“Umm, I’m going to get this lad home. You guys have fun dealing with the wrath of your queen. I’ll check in later, D-boy,” Kane tells us, and I nod.
“Thanks for your help today. I appreciate you both,” I tell them as Gio pulls up in the van.
“I already have the clean-up crew on the way, boss,” Gio states and I nod, looking back at Spade.
“Are you sure about this man? Do you really want to go back in there when she’s like this? Our wife scares me a bit when she's mad,” he says, and I shake my head.
“Don’t let her hear you say that,” I say, fuming as I continue to walk up the cobblestone path and straight for the wooden door. Turning the knob, I swing it open, only to find Jade stumbling. Her eyes collide with mine and narrow.
“Didn’t I tell you to leave?” she seethes, gritting her teeth as her fists clench at her sides. She’s so fucking beautiful when she’s mad.
“I really don’t give a fuck what you say, Jade.
I’m not fucking leaving you or my kids. So chill the fuck out and let me explain!
” I yell as she takes a lethal step closer to me.
I brace myself for impact, knowing my wife is going to raise her fist and give me what I deserve.
My head snaps to the side as her hit makes contact.
Blood drips from my lip and I smirk, swiping my tongue across the crimson.
Her eyes burst with lust, which only fuels me more as my grin gets wider, but that was the wrong move on my part because she lunges at me.
“How could you, Dario?” she yells as tears stream down her face while her fists slam into my chest. “How could you make me mourn your death? I watched you die! Do you know how much that hurt me?” she screams, and I grip her hips, pulling her towards me, but she thrashes, forcing me to let her go.
“I know, Kitten. Just let me explain!” I demand, but she shakes her head, taking a step back as Jameson enters the room, his fist clenched on one side as the other hand holds a dagger.
“I think it’s time for you to leave, Dario,” he commands, his voice strong and authoritative as the vein in his neck protrudes, letting me know he’s beyond angry. I take a step closer to my wife, but Spade grabs my arm, halting me.
“Come on, D. Let’s just give her time,” he suggests, but I rip my arm from his grasp.
“Time? Give her time? No, fuck that!” I snarl. Walking right up to her, I wrap my hand around her throat and press her back into the wall beside the entrance table.
“You want some truths, Jade. You might want to call your father! He’s the reason for my fake death and missing everything!
He’s the reason for your pain! Not me!” I point to myself, then look towards my brother, pointing at him.
“Not Spade! Him! Your flesh and blood!” I spit, and her eyes widen.
Letting her go, I step back, only for Jameson to take his knife and hold it to my throat!
“You gonna kill me, brother? Is that what family does to one another, or is this the monster your father created?” I spit as he presses the metal deeper into my neck.
“That’s enough!” Jade commands, her eyes narrowing at the both of us. “Jamie, put the knife away.” And like the good little bitch he is, he removes the blade from my skin. I spin, rearing my arm back and punching him in the face. His nose crunches beneath my fist as he roars in anger.
Suddenly, a vase crashes near our feet as Jade presses her pistols against mine and Jameson’s skulls.
“I fucking said enough! The kids don’t need to see or hear this shit,” she reminds us, and I nod as he continues to narrow his eyes at me.
“I’m going to go check on the kids! Get this place cleaned up or I’ll be taking them to a hotel for the night!
” she orders, turning her back and walking towards the safe room.
But I can’t help myself. I know she’s livid with me, and she has every right to be, but I need her.
I need to feel her skin against mine. SoI walk over to her and before she keys in the code, I wrap my arms around her waist, spreading my hands across her stomach, shoving my face into the crook of her neck, taking a deep inhale of her scent.
I run my nose along the column of her neck and growl.
“I love you, Fallon. I’m sorry. Just please don’t give up on me,” I whisper, placing a kiss on her cheek. She spins in my arms and takes in my features.
“Dario, I fucking love you more than life itself, but I am also so angry and disappointed with you. And don’t you think you got out of this scot free, Spade!” she spits, looking around me as he walks past us towards the kitchen. He looks back over his shoulder with sadness in his eyes.
“I know, Babygirl. I know!” he says solemnly as he walks into the kitchen while Jameson removes the bodies from the foyer, mumbling shit under his breath.
Looking back at Jade, her eyes look so tortured tonight, and I hate that I’m the cause of it. “Please don’t look at me like that. I’ll do anything to prove how sorry I am and that I’m not going anywhere ever again!” I plead.
“I’m not sure what you want me to say or how you expect me to feel other than angry!
So for now, I just need time to think,” she says, and I nod, letting her go as she turns, pressing the code into the wall.
The lock clicks and the door swings open to Jaxon, hand in hand with Hazel.
I immediately drop to my knee and open my arms as Jaxon and Hazel both run into them.
Wrapping my arms around both of my kids, my heart skips a beat and finally feels whole again.
Inhaling deeply, I take in their scents and tears form in my eyes.
I can’t help the emotions I feel deep within my soul that I’m finally home with my family. This is all I ever wanted.
“Zayn, we missed you,” Jaxon states, and my heart drops. I look up at Jade and she shakes her head. Swallowing thickly, I smile.
“Yes, little man. I missed you, too. Have you been a good boy for Mama and been helping her with your siblings?” I ask, and he smiles, lifting his arms to show me his muscles.
“Yeah, Zayn. I sure have. That was really scary. All those masked people. But I helped Mama and did exactly what she told me to. I'm a big boy now,” he says, wiggling his brows.
“Good job, Jaxon. I’m so proud of you,” I tell him as he walks away to hug Jade. Hazel places her hand on my face and smiles at me. I return one of my own and kiss her little cheeks, my beard causing her to giggle. God, I love that sound.
“Clean-up crew is here. How about we take the kids upstairs and go in the pool for a bit while they dispose of everything?” Jameson suggests.
“That’s fine. Where’s Spade and Ryder? Maybe they can go get pizza and work their shit out,” she says as Spade’s head peeks around the corner.
“Did someone say pizza?” He smiles, and I shake my head.
God, it’s so fucking good to be home.
