He was quiet another minute while we watched Tony Stark become the first semblance of Iron Man. “Sorry I kissed you earlier.”
“I’m okay with that. Kissing is good.” His arm wrapped around me even better. I could so see myself falling asleep under his warmth, and waking up wrapped up in his embrace.
He seemed to relax a little.
“Rio,” I said, “I’m good. I promise.”
“And if I’m not?”
“Not good with us snuggling?”
“Not good in general.”
“Again, I ask, how are you a bad guy?”
“Always hungry,” he said.
“But I made you popcorn, and there is a ton of food in the kitchen for you. It’s not like you’re going to eat me, right?” It was a joke, the idea of him eating me, and if he hadn’t looked so serious, I might have teased him about a more sexual interpretation of it, but he looked uncomfortable.
“No.”
I reached over to pat his knee, leaving my hand resting there when I was done. “Then we’re good. Eat. Watch the movie. Sorry if I fall asleep on you. Didn’t sleep well last night.”
“Sorry I kept you up.”
It had been my worry for him that had kept me awake, but I wasn’t going to let him take the blame. Instead I settled into his side, half using him as a heated pillow and watched the movie until sleep stole me away.
