EPILOGUE

“ S hall we?” William asked, holding his hand out to his wife.

Eveline took his hand and graciously alighted from the carriage, stepping into the vast estate of the Earl of Essex, where a lavish ball was being held.

“Have I told you yet that you look absolutely ravishing?” William asked, a flirtatious smile on his face.

Eveline blushed. “Perhaps a thousand times already.”

“That is nearly not enough,” William remarked. “I must try harder.”

Eveline laughed. “You cut a fine figure yourself,” she offered.

Her husband’s face immediately lit up with a smile.

She was not lying. His broad shoulders filled up his well-tailored green coat, which did nothing to hide his muscular figure. Just a glance at his face made her swallow nervously.

Despite the fact that he was her husband, he still made her incredibly nervous.

His face was striking, and his scars only added to his mysterious facade, yet Eveline knew that behind the rigid, masculine figure was a man who was not afraid to cherish her.

“We should go into the hall before you catch a cold,” William urged, tugging on her arm.

At the entrance, Lord and Lady Essex greeted them with a flourish, and it was not until another couple came along that they were able to escape.

“I am not certain I could ever get used to having people be so excessive in their greetings,” Eveline complained.

“That is because the Earl wants me to support his bill at the next Parliament session,” William explained.

As it was with every ball, important dignitaries continued to accost him.

Eveline was, therefore, relieved when someone tugged on her arm and she found it was her sister, Ava, closely followed by Lily.

“We have been looking for you,” Ava said to her.

“I told Ava about the dinner you promised to throw at your castle, and now she cannot speak of anything else.”

“Wait till Stella finds out about it,” Ava snorted.

“About the dinner, we might…” Eveline was about to announce their plans to her friend when another voice she recognized interrupted them

“Mayfield!”

It was Magnus, and he was approaching them with his sister in tow.

“Why, it is lovely to see you again, Duchess,” he greeted.

“It is my pleasure,” Eveline responded. “Lady Cecilia. I must say, you look absolutely radiant.”

Cecilia smiled shyly behind her brother.

“I must introduce you to Lady Lily and my sister, Ava,” Eveline added.

Lily winked conspiratorially at Cecilia. “You do not have to introduce Cecilia to me. We are friends,” she said.

Eveline was pleasantly surprised. “Then I suppose you already know the Duke of Blackmore.”

“Indeed, we have been acquainted,” Magnus confirmed. “After all, our mothers were friends.”

“Is that so?” Eveline turned to Lily, who did not seem as happy with his presence as she was with Cecilia’s.

“Miss Ava, I am most pleased to make your acquaintance,” Magnus said with a polite bow.

“Then you must be happy for me to make Cecilia’s acquaintance too,” a voice that Eveline knew all too well interjected.

She did not even have to turn around to know that it was Theo.

“I would suggest that you keep my sister’s name out of your mouth,” Magnus warned in a low voice that suggested he was angry.

Theo threw his hands up dramatically. “I cannot even say a simple hello to the sweet Lady Cecilia without her brother breathing down my neck?”

“Theo, give it a rest,” Edwin, who had followed him, grunted.

“Are you certain you still want to host them all for dinner?” William asked Eveline.

She nodded excitedly. She could imagine the chaos that would erupt if she had them all together at her table for dinner, and yet she wanted it even more than ever.

“Did Mayfield mention a dinner?” Theo asked.

“Indeed, Eveline and I are looking forward to hosting everybody for dinner.”

“You mean including the lovely ladies here too?” Theo asked, his eyes twinkling excitedly.

“I must warn you, ladies, that Theo is an incorrigible rake,” Magnus piped up.

“How could you?” Theo scoffed.

“Now, when is this dinner?” Ava asked.

“That will be after our honeymoon,” Eveline replied.

“Honeymoon?” Cecilia echoed. “That sounds so romantic.”

“Indeed, it is.”

“Where are you going for your honeymoon?” Magnus asked.

“Greece,” William announced, smiling.

Eveline smiled proudly at her husband. He had spared no cost in giving her the best honeymoon possible.

“That is incredible!” Lily gushed.

“We shall miss you when you are gone,” Ava said. “I know Stella would be excited to hear you are going to Greece.”

After saying their congratulations, they slowly dispersed until it was just Eveline and William.

They decided to walk around and grab some refreshments.

Eveline barely put the food in her mouth when another viscount and his wife waved at them from across the ballroom. She groaned.

“What would you say if we slip out of the ball?” William suggested.

Blood rushed to Eveline’s face as she remembered the activities they had engaged in the last time they slipped out of a ball.

“I would say yes if it is anything like the previous time,” she responded.

He tried unsuccessfully to hide the smile that tugged at the corners of his mouth.

“Now that you have mentioned it, I have no choice but to oblige. Let us get out of here before the Viscount and Viscountess catch up to us.”

With that, they slipped quietly out of the ball and into the cool breeze outside.

Eveline was surprised when her husband led them to the carriage.

“I reckon our home would be a better location for this escapade.”

Soon enough, they were home, and her husband lifted her into his arms and carried her to his chambers.

William did not hesitate to claim her mouth as soon as they stepped into his room. When they finally came up for air, Eveline fumbled with the buttons on his coat.

“Your coat,” she breathed, “it must come off.”

William, however, held her hands before she could continue. “Let me do it,” he said.

In just a moment, he was standing in front of her, naked.

Eveline swallowed nervously as she took a few steps back to look at him.

He was muscular and huge, and even now, his engorged member was a testament to his arousal.

“Now, your turn,” he said, before closing the distance between them in an instant.

Eveline shivered as his teasing fingers left goosebumps in their wake as he took his sweet time to undress her.

William leaned down and pressed a kiss to her neck. She shivered again, more intensely this time.

“I could not take my eyes off you tonight,” he murmured against her skin.

“I could certainly tell,” Eveline breathed.

He gave her a slight push, and she fell, rather dramatically, onto the bed. Before she could catch her breath, he had straddled her.

They kissed again, and this time, it was slow and steady, just like their love for each other.

When he finally took her breasts into his mouth, Eveline felt tingles spread from the tiniest hair on her head to her feet.

His tongue laved at her nipple, leaving longing and need in its wake.

“Take me now,” Eveline begged him.

William chuckled wickedly before he trailed open-mouthed kisses from her chest down to her stomach and then just a little lower.

Eveline’s fingers curled into the bedsheets when his tongue found her nub. His tongue teased and flicked it, and soon enough, her pleasure began to build up. Then, a satisfying wave of pleasure crashed over her.

“William!” she moaned as she trashed about, her body engulfed in pleasure.

William held her down and continued sucking on her nub so that the pleasure multiplied until she could barely move, panting and spent.

When he finally emerged from between her thighs, he had a proud and cocky smile on his face.

Eveline pulled him up towards her and kissed his face. It was then that she suddenly got an idea.

“Lie down,” she instructed.

“What?” He seemed confused

“Lie down and ask no question.”

William obliged her.

Eveline’s heart thudded in excitement as she straddled him.

“What are you trying to do?” he asked.

“Did I not tell you to ask me no questions?”

She moved closer to him, and he grabbed her waist, his eyes twinkling in the dimly lit room. She braced her hands against his chest for balance as she lifted herself.

William’s eyes widened with surprise as he realized what she was about to do.

Eveline lowered herself onto his shaft, and a shiver ran down her spine. She gasped. She had never done anything like this before, and it felt different.

“Oh, Eveline,” William groaned.

She had to take a moment to catch her breath, but the admiration on William’s face egged her on.

William lifted his hands to touch her breasts, and she could not help but laugh.

She took charge and began to move, slowly at first. However, when he grabbed her hips and began to rock with her, she gained confidence and then speed. His grip on her hips tightened as he directed her movements.

Eveline could feel her pleasure begin to build up anew, slow at first before it started to consume her.

“Eveline!”

Hearing her husband calling her name in such an intimate way pushed her to the edge, and with one final movement, she finally reached her peak. A burst of pleasure unlike anything she had ever felt before.

Her body arched, and she shuddered.

William found his release soon after, and she clung to him as he buried himself deep inside her, before his eyes rolled to the back of his head and he shuddered.

She fell on top of him, breathless.

The room was silent, the only sound their breathing.

Eveline sighed in contentment. They did not have to share a word. She was truly happy and with the smile that was now spreading across his face, she knew he was happy too.

The End?
