She smiled, and her eyes glistened as she pressed up, kissing me softly. “I’m the lucky one.”

With time ticking away, we took turns getting showered and when she was done, she wrapped a towel around her wet hair and body before stepping out of the shower.

Over the last few days, she had moved most of her clothes into the house, so when I stepped out, I saw her on her side of the bed getting dressed.

It didn’t take me long to get dressed and I told her to take her time as I walked out, giving her space to get finished.

There was enough coffee for one more cup and I topped my cup off and stood at the sliding glass door, looking out at the morning sunlight as I took in the extra caffeine.

Before long, I heard boots behind me, and I turned to see Sydney standing in the doorway.

“Do I look okay?” she asked, running her hand down the front of a Sinners Revenge shirt I had made for her by one of the ol’ ladies.

Walking up to her, I took her hand and kissed the back, replying, “You look beautiful.”

Her jeans hugged her ass, she was wearing the same boots she worked in, and the shirt fit tightly around her tits.

There was a hint of makeup on her beautiful face as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.

She was the perfect example of an ol’ lady, and after tonight, I hoped I would be able to call her my wife soon.

My parents were coming over tomorrow to meet her and I knew they would love her the same as I did.

“Let’s get going,” I urged, and she nodded before patting her back pocket for her phone.

Satisfied she was ready, we walked out, closing and securing the house behind us.

She swung her leg over the bike and got onto the small seat on the back as I got onto the front and cranked the loud bike.

My neighbors were used to the noise of my bike, but I tried not to run it too early or too long on the weekends.

When it warmed up, I walked the bike backward until I could pull forward to get us out of the driveway.

The entire drive over to the Sin Den, I felt her hands gripped around my waist as we took our time though the light traffic of Rapid City.

The weather was supposed to warm up today, but it was going to be a beautiful ride.

As we turned into the parking lot of the clubhouse, I saw Jagger, Jigsaw, and Warhol’s bikes parked out front, positioned to pull out.

I maneuvered mine into place, since I led the ride, and killed the engine.

Willow and Jackie walked out and waved as I helped Sydney off the bike.

She smiled at me, and I leaned over, kissing her softly.

“Go have fun with the ladies while I catch up with the brothers. I’ll find you before we leave.”

She nodded and turned to greet the ladies who had walked up to the bike. They began to chat as I walked up the stairs into the clubhouse. Warhol, Jigsaw, and Jagger were leaning against the bar talking and when I walked in, they turned their eyes to me.

I wasn’t sure what was going on, but as I approached, I saw the look on Warhol’s face.

“What?” I asked and he shook his head.

“I finally got a call back from that sheriff in Nevada about Sydney’s problem,” he started.

“What did he say?” I asked before glancing over my shoulder to see if the ladies had joined us.

I wouldn’t keep anything from Sydney, but I was glad he was speaking to me first. That way, I could be prepared for whatever he discovered.

“Well, we won’t have to worry about her having to pay any more money,” he explained, and I gave him a confused look. “Rooster is dead, along with his two brothers. Apparently, they blew themselves up in a meth house this past Tuesday.”

“They’re dead?” I asked, then added, “What about the cartel?”

He shook his head. “There is no cartel. The sheriff said they run this scam from time to time on people’s families, looking for handouts and making themselves bigger than they really were.”

“And there’s no way to get any of Sydney’s money back?” I inquired.

Jaggar interjected, “I asked Comet to see if he can reverse the wire transfer she made last week, since there isn’t anyone to pick it up. Maybe we can get that back, but the rest I assume is gone.”

Running my hands through my hair, I looked up at the ceiling and exhaled worry I didn’t realize I was carrying.

Looking back at my brothers, I spoke quickly. “Well, I hate we can’t get her money back, but at least this part of her past is finally closed.”

Turning to Warhol, I asked, “Can we wait to discuss this until after the ride? I don’t want it weighing on her mind all day.

” He gave me a nod, and I decided she could give him the envelope at the same time.

There wasn’t any reason to deal with any of that right now.

Whatever was inside the envelope had been there for over two years and wouldn’t be rectified before we left.

I wanted to change the subject, so I looked around the bar before lowering my voice and asking, “Where’s her cut?”

Jigsaw smiled and replied, “It’s locked in the safe in Roughstock’s office while we’re gone, and the clubhouse is closed tonight to anyone but Sinners.”

Happy the past can’t hurt her anymore, I smiled at my brothers, knowing by this time tomorrow, Sydney would have my ring on her finger and my cut on her back.

If I could just get a baby in her belly, my life would be complete.
