Raven

I could see the hesitation on Sydney’s face as we pulled away from the shop, headed to the Sin Den.

For the last two days, I have spoken to her about my club, my brothers, and especially the ol’ ladies.

I tried to reassure her how loved and cherished the women of the club were, but the worry on her face was crystal clear.

As I maneuvered through traffic with Sydney’s arms wrapped around my waist and her cheek resting against my back, I thought back to the tales Billy used to share with my father during his occasional visits.

His club seemed wild, and the more I thought about the stories of bar fights, club sluts, and the occasional police visit, I started to understand Sydney’s apprehension.

Having been born and raised in Rapid City, I’d seen every kind of club imaginable during the Rally’s.

Not every club was like the Sinners Revenge.

Some treated their women like actual property, and others were unfaithful to their ol’ ladies.

There were clubs who would kill for sport, and others who never believed in violence.

Tonight was my chance to show her what kind of good, decent men I rode with, and I just hoped no one started any drama. Not that it was a regular occurrence.

As I turned onto the road leading past Roughstock’s ranch, I slowed down and yelled over my shoulder to Sydney.

“Roughstock and Cheyenne live here, and the club is just down the road.”

She nodded as I accelerated past the ranch and when I turned onto the road where the Sin Den was, I pushed the bike a little faster than before, wanting her to feel the freedom that being out this far gave us.

Police didn’t patrol out here since it was all private land, and that gave us more leeway to feel the wind against our faces.

By the time I turned into the gravel lot of the Sin Den, I looked into the rear-view mirror and saw a beautiful smile on Sydney’s face. Seeing her happy calmed something inside me, and I vowed to put a smile on her face every day.

As I slowed the bike and pulled around the back of the building, I noticed her smile falter. I realized she was stepping into my world and it was my job to make sure she was content. I slowed my bike and began to walk it backward into my spot before turning off the engine.

I swung my leg off the bike and turned to see Sydney glance at the back of the building as she picked at her nails. Reaching out, I offered her my hand with a smile, and when she took it, I helped her off the bike.

Before we walked inside, I wanted her to relax, so I gently tugged her into my arms. She wrapped hers around my neck and looked up at me with a hint of worry in her eyes. Leaning closer, I whispered to her, “I won’t leave your side. I promise.”

She seemed to relax in my arms, and I pushed forward, pressing my lips to hers. In an instant, she melted into the embrace, and that’s when I took it past the chaste phase we had been in for the last few days.

Parting my lips, I licked the seam of her lips until they parted.

When my tongue brushed against hers, I heard her moan into the embrace and tried to will my cock to stay down.

This wasn’t the time or place for him to join the party.

Kissing her was better than I’d imagined as her fingers absently messed with the back of my head.

A throat clearing made her jump, and she pulled away, trying to step away from me. My woman wasn’t going to feel uncomfortable with us showing affection, and when I turned and looked over my shoulder, I saw Jigsaw and Willow standing at the back door.

Sydney ducked her head, and I placed a kiss on the top, whispering, “Don’t be shy, darlin’. We have nothing to hide.”

Her eyes met mine, and I saw a smile pressing onto her face. Reluctantly, I released my hold on her and slipped my hand into hers. Kissing the back, I guided her toward Jigsaw and Willow as they stood waiting for us.

As we approached the back door, Willow walked forward and pulled Sydney into a hug. Sydney didn’t seem to know how to respond but she gave her a quick hug back as Jigsaw watched from his spot beside the door. I slapped hands with him as Willow and Sydney joined us.

“I’m so glad you’re here. I think Cheyenne is cheating at pool and I need some encouragement,” Willow explained as she took Sydney’s hand into her and guided her up the stairs.

Sydney seemed unsure but smiled as Jigsaw opened the door, allowing the women to walk inside. He looked at me and shrugged before we followed the ladies into the back of the club. The usually loud noises of the Sin Den were muted as we walked into the bar.

There were maybe four brothers sitting inside and none of the local regulars who usually took up space at the bar.

Jigsaw leaned over and whispered as we walked toward the tables in the center of the room.

“Cheyenne didn’t want a full house for Sydney’s first visit, so Roughstock closed the bar to unpatched members for the night. ”

I gave him an acknowledging nod as I saw Cheyenne put her pool cue down as Willow and Sydney approached. Her eyes quickly cut to me before she walked up to Sydney. I joined her as I heard Cheyenne say, “It’s nice to finally meet you, Sydney. I’m Roughstock’s ol’ lady, Cheyenne.”

I slipped my hand back into Sydney’s as Willow bounced over to hug on Jigsaw. Sydney returned, “Thank you for having me.”

“What would you like to drink?” Cheyenne asked her.

“Soda please,” Sydney replied.

I leaned over and spoke softly. “You can have a drink if you want, darlin’. I’ll make sure we get home safely.”

She brought her eyes to me and replied, “I’m okay.”

Roughstock walked into the room from his office and made his way over to us. Sydney looked at him as he stepped next to Cheyenne and kissed her on the temple before addressing us.

“Hey, I’m glad you were able to make it. How’s the bike coming?”

Sydney seemed to perk up as she responded. “I got the motor torn down today and Joel is ordering the parts that immediately need to be replaced. I’ll know if there are any deeper problems once I get into the crankshaft tomorrow.”

Willow and Jigsaw stepped up and he was carrying a tray of drinks for us. “Let’s sit down so we can visit,” he said.

The six of us took a table off to the side and Sydney sat directly beside me, keeping her hand in mine. I could feel her nervous energy as everyone got settled. She took a sip of her soda as Roughstock asked a few questions about what she thought would need to be repaired.

Cheyenne gave me a sly wink as she lifted her drink to take a sip. Having Sydney next to me, already winning over my brothers, gave me a sense of pride I had never felt before. I’d seen it with each of my brothers as they found their ol’ ladies, but I never thought I would experience it.

“How long have you been in Rapid City?” Willow asked during a lull in the conversation.

“I moved here at the end of June,” Sydney answered. “Are you from here?”

Willow shook her head and replied, “I grew up in Minneapolis, but was living in Chicago when Dean and I reconnected. It’s a long story, but in the end, we got our happy ending.”

Roughstock gave me a subtle lean of his head and I saw Jigsaw give him a nod. Looking at Sydney, I asked, “Will you be okay for a few minutes? I need to take care of something really quick.”

Cheyenne smiled as Sydney answered, “I’ll be okay. Cheyenne and Willow will keep me company.”

“We’ve got your woman,” Willow joked and wrapped her arm around Sydney’s shoulder.

I stood and stepped back, making sure Sydney was okay before I walked into Roughstock’s office with Jigsaw following behind. He leaned up against his desk and crossed his arms as the door closed behind us.

“What’s up?” I inquired as I took a seat in front of the desk.

Jigsaw sat beside me as Roughstock ran his hand down his face. When he spoke, I was a little taken aback by his statement. “What do you know about Sydney?”

“What’s that supposed to me?” I asked, instantly getting defensive.

He held his hands up and silently surrendered as he answered, “I’m not looking to cause a problem brother. It was just a question.”

“Do you remember Buzzsaw from the Oregon chapter of the Flying Dutchmen MC?” Roughstock looked up briefly before nodding.

“She’s his niece. He retired and sold his shop, and he suggested she move here.

He’d heard I was shorthanded, and I’ll be honest, hiring her was the best decision I’ve ever made.

” I paused then asked, “Why do you want to know about Sydney?”

“I got an unusual phone call today from a club president in Nevada. He was with an unaffiliated club I’d never heard of, but he was looking for his missing ol’ lady and heard rumors she was living in Rapid. He asked me to keep an eye out for her.”

“And what does this have to do with Sydney?” I asked, getting a sick feeling in my stomach.

“Nothing directly, as far as I can tell. but I had Warhol do some digging and the woman he was looking for had a daughter named Sydney.” My eyes grew wide, and he continued, “It’s not a usual name for a chick, so I needed to know what you knew about her.”

“I know enough, and if this guy is looking for Sydney’s mother, he needs to look in the graveyard in Oregon. That’s where she is,” I returned then tacked on. “Why is he looking for this woman and why ask you?”

“Apparently, the woman stole twenty-five large from the club, and he’s looking for their money. I needed to know if this was going to cause any problems for the club.”

I ran my hands through my hair as I stood and muttered, “Fuck.”

I could feel their eyes on me, but it was Jigsaw who spoke. “This is the debt thing you were telling me about, isn’t it?”

I sighed and turned back. “I honestly don’t know, but if it is the same situation, then I’ll have Comet pull money from my investments and I’ll make this go away. I won’t have her working to pay off a debt her deadbeat, dead-ass mother ran up.”
