Page 164 of Psycho Alphas: Part Two
“Let go—Fuck!” He swore, body lurching as his scent spiked, the fresh lightning storm becoming a tempest in the air. I’d grabbed onto his essence in the bond and sent it into madness again.
A low growl ripped from his body as he released Bunny, fingers closing around my arm instead. I looked up at him in fury. His chest heaved, ice-blue eyes faint for a moment, then present.
Finally, as I came down from my short-lived tantrum, he calmed, looking truly hateful.
We were both realising just how easy it was to make him feral. I had to stifle a smile despite his fury.
“Sorry, Bunny…” I whispered. I reached up, and he flinched, the full flood of his fury suddenly twisting his expression. Still, he didn’t speak or move as if he’d turned to stone. “It’s just one night in my nest?”
I couldreallyuse that from him…
“Onenight,” he spat at last.
I released a breath of relief and tried not to squeal in excitement.
Once we were in the nest, Ace didn’t seem to mind much. He was patient as I made a huge den around us so it felt as cosy as possible. I’d always been too nervous before when we’d lived in his place, worried he’d think it was childish. But my instincts made Rogue and Knox happy so… maybe he’d like it?
He didn’t complain as I dragged him in and he held me close.
The scent of a fresh lightning storm was oddly wild, even though I wasn’t making him feral anymore.
Okay. The nest was good.
It was easy, with him there, to tumble off into sleep.
Sometimes I’d be woken in the night by his touch across my skin, rubbing over the fading bites he’d given me earlier. Whenever it happened, I got goosebumps, snuggling closer, inhaling his possessive scent.
He stayed until the morning, and I held my god Alpha tight, feeling like all the pieces of my pack were finally coming together.
And in the morning, I plucked the key to the collar from Bunny’s pouch.
FORTY-FOUR
THISTLE
I had the afternoon free, and Bambi wasstillnesting, so I needed to keep busy. Knox took me shopping, and I bought some badass outfits, accessories, and nail polish.
Ace had sworn up and down that Bella would be dealt with, so I had to start planning for the future.
And step one was my nest.
“You sure this was enough for you, Doll?” Knox asked as he dropped it all onto the couch in Rogue’s old basement living room. He was looking at the huge piles of bags sarcastically.
“Forme?” I asked. “Uh, this was for you guys.”
“You want us to dress up?” Rogue asked as he picked up the nail polish.
“I thought it was nesting stuff?” Knox asked.
“Uh, yeh. I want cool selfiesformy nest.”
“What are—?” Rogue cut off as he reached into a bag where Ace’s gift was half-visible. I grabbed it, cheeks going bright pink. “That’s uh… that’s a surprise but I don’t think we’rethereyet.”
Maybe one day soon?
Ace had sworn he had a way to get Knox in—which had to involve killing Bella, right?
I took my time arranging all the new toys. First there was what we’d bought today, then there was the golden metal skull mask Ace had arrived in—one I’d put on him back in the City when I was worried about people recognising him. It was scuffed from the trek in the desert, but I still loved how it looked. Then there were the muzzles of all different colours, and the assortment of weapons stashed around the basement.
