“Give me two seconds. This can’t wait.” She pushed out of my arms and I tilted my head back, closing my eyes. “You’re going to be the death of me.”
“Probably. Now come here.”
Staring her down, I stalked toward her and she rolled her eyes. “Oh my god, I show more skin in a bathing suit.”
I pressed my lips into a fine line. She was right. I knew that. Hell, I’d even shown off more of her at the club, whipping her to a vibrating, weeping climax for a room full of strangers.
But something about beinghere, in ourhome, felt different.
“Let it go, caveman.”
Breathing deeply through my nose, I stopped beside her and motioned to the documents. “Well?”
“Your mother had thirty-three percent of the company.”
“Yes.”
“And your father… he had thirty-four percent.”
“Yes.” I frowned as I tried to put the pieces together while she took her goddamn time getting to the point.
She widened her eyes at me, mirroring my frustration. “And you have thirty-three percent.”
“Yes…” My eyes widened.
“Hold on…” Travis walked around the island to stand beside her. “Rylan, what did you find? Show me.”
She flipped through pages of legal docs, then pulled one out. “It’s yours,” she whispered as she looked up at me and handed him the doc.
Travis took the paper from her hand and scanned it quickly, mumbling to himself as he connected the dots.
But I already had.
She approached me slowly, eyebrows drawn down over concerned eyes.
When she stopped in front of me, then reached up the hand not keeping her towel locked to her frame to cup my cheek, I nearly broke. I closed my eyes and leaned into her touch.
“He didn’t fucking tell you,” Travis said, his voice more venomous than I’d ever heard it. “He didn’t fucking tell you that her thirty-three percent transferred to you when she died.”
“You have the majority,” Rylan whispered.
And he’d hidden that from me.
Chapter Forty-Six
Cabot
As I walked into Reed Tower with my CFO on one side of me and the woman I loved on the other, I felt, for the first time, like I truly was the man destined to rule this kingdom.
We stopped outside the doors and Travis gave a curt nod. “Good job, this morning, Rylan.” Then he turned and strode inside, leaving us on the sidewalk. He was meeting our new legal team upstairs to prepare for the meeting scheduled an hour from now.
I looked down at Rylan, searching her gaze. “Are you sure about this?”
She licked her lips. Swallowed hard. Then nodded.
“Words, my love.”
“Yes, I’m sure.”
