A s I reach the pool's edge I feel every gaze fixed on me. Several people reach for their phones and begin filming.
I navigate through the crowd at the pool's edge and look back to see their positions. They trail me by a few steps but their athletic ability makes it seem like no distance at all.
I must have lost focus during the turn because I ended up skidding to a halt when I looked back. Jaxon was right in front of me.
How could I miss him behind me?
Shit. Shit. Shit.
As I took a step back I whispered the word to myself. He approached me and I understood that I had no possible response.
I couldn't go anywhere since the other two followed me from behind.
So, all I could do was plead. "Seriously, guys, can we not do this?!"
"Kinda late for that, Em." I hear Tristan laugh behind me. I turn toward him and give him a scowl. "Shut up." I snap. I started to turn away but Jaxon grabbed me and flung me across his shoulder.
I fight back against him but find myself unable to move much. His shoulder hits my abdomen which causes my stomach to clamp up.
"Throw her in! Throw her in! Throw her in!" The people around us started chanting.
"For the love of God Jaxon please put me down right now!" I argue, but he laughs it off.
The chants grew louder as a crowd gathered outside to witness the events.
I will kill you if you throw me in over here! I issue a feeble threat while my breathing becomes increasingly difficult.
Any method comes to mind when I attempt to break his grip on me. I hit his back. I grab his hair as hard as I can. His movement towards the edge remained unimpeded despite all my efforts. "Sorry, but not sorry, Em."
"Jaxon!" I scream his name in desperation before my body is flung into the pool from his back. Murderous thoughts rush into my brain as my body breaks through the water's surface.
I'm gonna kill him. I'm gonna commit homicide.
I stood up and broke the surface of the pool with my feet reaching the bottom while cameras focused on my face. The audience went into shock while bursting into intense laughter.
I understood why they were. The situation would generate amusement if I were someone different.
I remove my hair from my face and my vision instantly locks onto Jaxon. Jaxon stands beside me wearing his idiotic grin. Although Elijah and Tristan stood alongside him I paid no attention to them. They chased me but did not throw me into the water.
A sudden flash erupted in front of my face which caused my eyes to burn for a short time. People need to stop looking at their phones all the time.
Oh fuck.
My phone.
With an intention to hop out I pulled my phone from my pocket and placed it on the edge. Those people totally miscalculated if they believed tossing me into the pool would lower my temperature. I was incited with rage now. "You piece of shit! My phone!" I complain.
We'll put it into rice so there's no need to worry. Jaxon shrugs it off like it's nothing.
God, I can't stand him anymore. The frustration makes me groan and I approach him with a scowl. I took an action which successfully reduced my anger to some extent.
I slapped him. Hard.
"Fuck you." I snap at him and then begin walking away with squishing noises coming from my shoes.
As I walked away everyone outside shouted "o's" and "oh shit's".
Entering the building left me feeling entirely uncomfortable. My clothes were drenched while my hair dripped water and my shoes were destroyed.
"Who's fucking house is this?" My groan was loud enough so someone could hear it.
"It'd be mine." Someone says from the sea of bodies.
A girl whom I knew well from school appeared after I noticed some movement.
Neha Anika was a nice girl. Throughout the years we shared several classes together, but we maintained our friendship.
Neha, I understand this request is really hard but-
"Don't worry about it." She moves her head from side to side and stops me from finishing what I started to say. "Come with me." I nodded and follow her upstairs. She showed me into her room before Hazelding me a pair of shorts and a loose tank top.
"Thank you so much." I let out a sigh while I brushed my hair away from my face.
"Don't worry about it. I just threw you into my swimming pool. she laughed.
I gave her a small smile. "I promise to return these to you tomorrow," I assured her before going into the bathroom.
I removed my soaked clothes but kept my underwear on while changing.
I grabbed an extra towel from the rack to dry myself and pressed out additional moisture from my hair.
Putting on dry clothes improved my mood significantly. Although I remained irritated my body was now covered in warmer clothes. I needed to reach my home to find my shoes. The situation left me powerless to act since I refused to wear damp socks.
I set the towel next to the laundry before going back to my car to store my clothes. As I entered the party again all eyes turned toward me. The guys, especially. I looked down. My shirt showed more of my skin than I would have liked but taking it was the best option available.
The staring did not stop me as I headed back to the kitchen. I quickly picked up another Bud Light can and drank it in mere seconds.
I searched for someone to talk to while walking around after opening another beer. The beer flowed through my body and my liquid courage started to accumulate inside me.
Drinking alcohol made me talkative. A social butterfly let's say.
From the moment I entered the living room I scanned for potential conversation partners who were of the opposite gender.
My attention was drawn to a man who stood behind the couch when I entered the living room. He continued to talk with his friends, but their presence won't stop my approach.
Jaxon sitting on the couch in front of him seemed problematic but wasn't a real problem.
I wanted to approach him and slap him again but I resisted. He was busy anyway. He was occupied with a girl sitting on his lap who had her breasts against his face. I rolled my eyes as I approached the couch with my sights set on the person I wanted to talk to.
I had good fortune when he noticed me as I approached. I smirked at him before drinking my beer. His friends noticed his attention shift and then logically they left.
I moved toward him and started a conversation. Once that was resolved the night continued without any issues.
After having another beer, I became completely drunk within a few hours. It felt late but I couldn't determine the exact time.
My attention was completely on the man who stood before me. He stood right in front of me while sitting on the countertop.
I held him tight around his neck while we kissed. I had to admit. He was a good kisser.
I didn't want to stop. A few seconds of unyielding tapping on my thigh made me pull away.
"What?" I whined while my hands continued to rest upon his shoulders.
"We're all leaving now Em," Kylie interrupted without a second thought.
She made decisions for the group like a mom and I couldn't contradict her. I'd be arguing with a wall.
I fell back slightly as I grinned. "Okay." I agreed. I didn't care what his name was but he backed up so I got off the counter.
"Bye...uhm-" Shit. What was his name? Adrian? Aiden? Fuck I completely forgot.
I slurred "Bye..." as Kylie pulled me along.
The only memory I have of climbing into her car is that moment.
I spent the next morning in bed suffering from a severe headache.
The morning presented a stark reminder that school awaited me.
Well fuck.
