Owen shakes his head, looking side to side. “A hotel room down the street for now. I haven’t been able to find a place that seems right for my situation.”
“What situation is that?” Now that I’ve met Maverick’s mom, I understand a lot about where he got his inquiring mind.
He has a very friendly way of getting all the information from people.
“My little girl is living with my sister Heather back home. I’m trying to find a way to move them both out here, but I don’t know the area too well.”
“You don’t say?” Mav glances at me with a nod. “Let’s talk after practice. I might be able to help you with that.”
Shaking my head, I exhale a chuckle. It’s like we’ve come full circle with a new player joining the fold.
The last ofour things are moved, and we’re officially in our new home.
All week Haddy’s been decorating the baby’s room. Thewalls are painted a warm peach color, and the pine crib is decorated in a mixture of cream and peach princess and hockey-themed motifs. Even the mobile hanging over it is hockey players and princesses.
“I had that custom made,” Haddy explains.
Waiting for Lucy in the center of the mattress is a green axolotl Haddy’s aunt Mimi crocheted by hand. Haddy showed me a picture of Axel, the one she had as a baby.
“She’s going to love it.” Leaning down, I kiss the side of her neck.
“I hadn’t accounted for pregnancy when I got a tattoo on my hip.” Her nose wrinkles. “Axel is very large right now.”
“I can really see the details at this size.” I catch her fist before it makes contact with my chest, laughing as I lead her down the hall to our bedroom. “I’m just saying, my mom’s a tattoo artist. It’s good work—much like you did with the house.”
“Nice save.”
Our bedroom shows off our two worlds as well. Framed pictures of our last months together are on the dresser and nightstands. My favorite is the one of me catching her that first day when she fell off the float.
She put it together with a mat that has the headline about me being a hockey player and a white knight in a large frame.
“Lucy’s going to love that one when she’s older,” Haddy laughs, resting her head on my arm.
“She’ll be our little princess.” I place my fingers under Haddy’s chin. “You’re my queen.”
Her eyes darken, and I lean down to pull her lips with mine. Our mouths open, and I slide my tongue in to curl with hers. She exhales a soft noise, and it registers straight to my cock.
Threading my fingers in her hair, I tilt her head to the side so I can kiss her deeper. She scratches, pulling at my shirt and I take a break to pull it over my head. Like always her eyes light, and she traces her finger down the lines of my chest.
“My knight,” she whispers, placing her lips against my skin.
The tip of her tongue circles my hardened nipple, sending energy to my dick, and she kisses lower, moving to her knees and sliding her hands up my thighs.
“You shouldn’t be on your knees,” my voice is hoarse, and my body aches for her.
“I want to be.” She blinks wide blue eyes as she takes my shaft in her fist, guiding my tip to her full lips.
One gentle suck, one circle of her tongue, and I bend forward, resting my palms on the side of the bed.
“Fuck, Haddy, that feels too good.” It’s a deep groan as she pulls me further into her warm mouth.
Her head bobs, and she moves her hand to meet her lips. Then she tilts her head, sucking the place right behind the tip and making me see stars. Another deep groan, and she opens her mouth, sliding the top of her tongue back and forth beneath my tip.
“Jesus, Haddy…” My fists tighten on the mattress. “Come up here before I come all over your face.”
Her eyebrows rise, and she exhales a throaty laugh. “What’s wrong with that?”
Shaking my head, I help her climb onto our king bed. “I don’t think it’s because I love you when I say you give the best head.”
