He gives me a look that tells me he doesn’t believe me.
“Honest.”
“Hell must be cold as fuck right now then. But if it’s true—keep it that way. If you act like a fuckboy that’s how she’s going to treat you.”
“I’ve figured that much out. But it’s not like she’s gonna forget all the time she’s known me. Going to be a dealbreaker you think?”
He shrugs. “Might be.”
I let out a breath. “Well, fuck it, I guess. Don’t know if I don’t try.”
“Good luck.”
“I’ll need it.” I smirk, and he gives me a quick slap on the back before he heads out the door.
SIXTEEN
Wren
When we getto the hotel lobby after the drive up from Denver, Easton heads to the desk and checks us all in while the rest of us just bask in the gorgeousness of it all.
“Do we want to know how much this place costs a night normally?” Kenz gapes at our surroundings and the gorgeous views of the mountains framed by picture windows.
“Probably not. Just appreciate that we’re getting the Easton discount, and it fits in our budget darlin’.” Waylon kisses the top of her head, and she wraps her arms around his waist.
“We have to find a way to pay him back for making this happen.” She shakes her head.
I blink as I turn around, trying to take it all in. I fell asleep in the car on the ride here because I’d worked three late shifts this week in a row and then stayed up trying to get a last-minute paper done. I was running on three hours of sleep, and it was starting to catch up to me.
Easton doles out keys and little folders of information and activities around the resort, and we all agree to meet back up for dinner before we head to our individual rooms. My stomach does a little flip when Easton and I are the last ones left standing in the lobby together. Because now it’s real. The two of us, our hateship and a hotel room for the next several days.
“Where are we?” I ask, trying to sound peppier than I feel. Because what I am is tired and nervous and I doubt either of those things is very attractive in the person you’re going to be stuck sharing a room with.
“We’re on the far side. In the residence wing.” He nods his head to the other side of the hotel.
“The residence wing?”
“Yeah. Little bit bigger place. A little more privacy.” Something dances behind his eyes as he says privacy.
The flip in my stomach turns into three somersaults. Right. Privacy. If you were going to spend your long weekend fucking the hottest guy on campus in secret while your friends were staying at the same hotel. You might need some.
“Shall we go?” A man appears and starts loading our luggage onto a cart.
My eyes flash back and forth between him and Easton.
“A butler comes with the package.” He shrugs.
“A what?” I look at him again.
“It’s a nice perk. You’ll like it.” He grins.
“Okay, Rich Boy.” I roll my eyes but I can’t stop a small smile that follows.
Our room is not a room. It is a palatial suite, with a bedroom, a living room, a bar area, a huge bathroom, and a massive deck that overlooks the ski lifts with a glittering hot tub in the center of it.
“There is no way my half of this is two hundred dollars, Easton.” I gape at him once the butler puts our bags away and gives us a quick tour of the amenities as well as a number to text him any time before he leaves.
“You’re right. Your half of this is zero.”
