Story: Otaku Witch
Time rewound to five minutes earlier.
As Sophia landed on the flight platform at the top of the Tower of Shine, she stepped onto the balcony and couldn't help but sniffle.
There was no helping it, these past few days she could smell the tempting aroma of food every time she finished work.
Although her character didn't quite mesh with that of the salty fish Miss, she had to admit the Miss's culinary skills were beyond reproach. The stomach of the Angel Witch was about to rebel against her heart, having already transformed into the Miss's shape.
After all, the canteen and the restaurants outside hadn't appealed to her at all lately. She couldn't go back to the days when any food would do just to get by.
For witches, eating and sleeping weren't necessities, as they could survive by absorbing magic power. These habits, carried over from their human days, were a form of entertainment for them, a way to relax, with enjoyment taking precedence over practicality.
Of course, this excluded ingredients full of magic power, which could truly satiate one's hunger.
And thanks to the Miss, who, after the teacher left, had received a huge batch of Superior Grade ingredients meant to boost her magic power quickly.
Of course, the ingredients the teacher sent were for two people: one portion for the Miss and one for Sophia herself. It was evident that the teacher intended to show she hadn't forgotten her pupil, despite acquiring a daughter.
But Sophia was still quite sour about it, after all, when she was young, her teacher had told her it was best to accumulate magic power slowly and that relying on external things for a quick boost was unreliable. How come it changed now that it was the Miss's turn?
However, considering the Miss's food was truly delicious, the Angel Witch no longer felt like eating lemons. The impact of those ingredients was negligible for someone like her, who was one step away from becoming a Great Witch. It was just for the sake of flavor, and the magic enhancement was limited, so Sophia simply gave two-thirds of her share to the Miss.
The teacher was overthinking it; she wasn't a child who couldn't distinguish right from wrong. How could she possibly be angry because the teacher was kind to the Miss? Besides, it was a waste of money to buy two sets of ingredients when those High Level ingredients were better suited for the Miss to maximize benefits.
However, the magic-enhancing effect of those ingredients seemed to improve after the Miss's cooking, so much so that in the past two days, Sophia, who was only supposed to enjoy the flavor, could distinctly feel her magic power becoming more active.
This was no illusion; the evidence lay in her slightly increased weight.
If those ingredients were truly of no use to her, her weight wouldn't have been affected.
Sophia, a bit embarrassed and annoyed, unfolded her Six-Winged Angel's Wings. She caressed her wings, which seemed to have gained a lot of softness and a better feel to them, and made up her mind that that night she would definitely eat only one bowl, no more.
Only...
Today, the Angel Witch didn't seem to smell the aroma of food coming from the house as she stood on the balcony. She found it strange as she pushed open the balcony doors and entered the house, only to be greeted by the emptiness of the abode.
Um, where is my Miss, my culinary-skilled Miss?
Not seeing the person who should have been busy in the kitchen as she came in, Sophia panicked.
She hurriedly walked inside the house, carefully searching every room, the bathroom, and so on. After confirming that no one was home, she became anxious.
Something wasn't right. Didn't the Miss go out today just to take an entrance exam? That should have ended long ago. And with the sky already so dark, even if she wanted to hang out at school after the exam, she should have been back by now.
And that Miss, who would never stand when she could lie down and who preferred the Magic Network over reality, how could she truly like playing outside? Isn't she socially anxious?
Something was very wrong. Could something have happened? After all, she only had 1,000 Mana, an amount of magic power that was not impressive at all at the academy. Had she accidentally revealed her true nature today?
Upon reflecting on the stunning glimpse of the Miss's true nature in the teacher's carriage, Sophia was completely panicked. If things were as she feared, a major commotion could break out, and it wouldn't be guaranteed that someone wouldn't lose control and act in violation of school rules.
The teacher entrusted the Miss to her care, and if she really lost the Miss, how could she have the face to see the teacher again?
The more the frightened Angel Witch thought about it, the less she could sit still. She subconsciously took out her Spellbook, hoping to make contact with the Miss through the Magic Network, but as she opened the Spellbook, she was astonished to realize she didn't actually have the Miss as a friend.
Sophia: "....."
Damn, what have I been doing these past few days?
She cursed herself and then hurried to the balcony, grabbing the broom she had just placed down. With a leap, she sat on it and took off directly, flying towards Brust Academy where the Miss had registered.
Only...
Sophia, who had just taken off, slammed on the brakes, violently pulling the broom's handle to avoid an imminent broomstick accident. Already frantic, she forgot her angelic grace at the moment and felt an urge to swear, but before she could open her mouth, the other party's temper seemed even greater.
"Are you blind or something?"
The voice that sounded so coquettish was actually spitting out such crude language, which made Sophia's blood boil. But it was obviously not the time to argue, and she subconsciously wanted to slap the person and make them crash. However, when she really saw the appearance of the person opposite her, she was suddenly at a loss for words.
The other party was the same, their bellyful of rage now stuck in their throat, unable to continue.
"Madeline?"
"President?"
Angel and Succubus, eye to eye, for a moment unsure what to say next.
Fortunately, just then the Succubus Witch's Spellbook vibrated, and from within it came a voice as melodious as a song.
"Sister, what's wrong?"
The background noise on the other side was a bit noisy, with heavy breathing faintly audible.
Upon hearing this, the Succubus Witch immediately snapped back to her senses, too annoyed to care that the Student Council President was standing right in front of her, and she shouted at the Spellbook.
"Audrey, where are you? Why haven't you come back so late?"
She quickly realized that her tone might have been too harsh, took a couple of deep breaths, and then spoke more gently.
"Don't be scared, tell sister, are you still safe? Where are you? Sister will be right there."
After saying this, she waited anxiously for the reply from the Spellbook, especially with the background noise containing occasional phrases like "Can you not handle it, if not, let me take over," "Hurry up, I've been queuing up all afternoon," "Good, that's vigorous, come on, go harder, didn't you eat?" and other raw expressions, which turned the Succubus Witch's face green.
Thankfully, the communication on the other side quickly resumed.
"Safe? I'm quite safe, yeah. I'm at the School Club Plaza watching wrestling, sis, it's so thrilling! I heard you might be the Campus Wrestling Queen, can you teach me later?"
"School Club Plaza, wrestling, huh? Stay there, don't move, I'll be right there."
The Succubus Witch's face grew even darker, her eyes filled with murderous intent. Who was it? Who had brought her cute little sister to such a crowded and mixed place, and to watch wrestling at that? I'll wrestle the life out of you...
"Uh, Sister, that's not necessary; I'm already an adult. Why do you still treat me like a child? And I'm not alone, I came here with my senior. She's just off taking the School exam; it's taking a while, but I'll go back as soon as she's done…"
The Witch on the other end of the Spellbook seemed to still be trying to calm the irate Succubus, but right now the older sister who's seeing red isn't likely to hear her younger sibling's excuses.
Madeline didn't even bother riding her broom, she simply spread her Demon Wings behind her; with a single flap, she transformed into a streak of purple light and shot off.
Sophia: "...."
Although the Angel Witch was quite curious to find out who could make the usually icy Disciplinary Committee Chairwoman so frantic, it was clearly not the time to be a melon-eating spectator. The other person had located theirs; she was still in search of the missing lady.
Only...
Originally, Sophia intended to continue flying toward Brust Academy, but inexplicably, the antenna hair on top of her head twitched, and in that moment it was as if she experienced a divine revelation.
The voice of the girl on the other side of Madeline's Magic Network echoed in her head.
Accompanying her senior sister, taking a School exam, it had been quite long...
emmmm…
Shoot, no doubt about it.
And so, in the pitch-black night sky, gleaming lights flickered as the Six-Winged Archangel transformed into a divine white glow, chasing after the purple light ahead.
The purple and white lights were like two shooting stars streaking across the night sky, causing countless onlookers below to be astonished.
Ah, what's going on? Those magic auras seem to belong to the Student Council President and the Disciplinary Committee Chairwoman. What are these two big-shots doing flying so fast late at night? It looks like the president is chasing down the chairwoman; have these two powerhouses finally decided to come to blows?
At this moment, the gazes of numerous melon-eating bystanders spread out once more, following the two shooting stars, ultimately focusing on the School Club Plaza.
….The Melon-eating Witches enjoy the spectacle….
