Page 47 of Noah's Reckoning
She was like some dream I had about what sex should be, and it was going to my head quickly.
I scrambled the eggs and dished them onto two plates where I’d already placed buttered toast.
She had this island with stools where we sat next to each other and ate. I passed her the peanut butter. She got up and refilled both our coffee cups. She took milk. I liked milk and sugar.
It felt weird. It felt intimate.
I liked it. Maybe too much.
“You didn’t take the pill last night,” I said.
She stopped chewing for a second then I watched her slowly swallow her eggs. “No, I didn’t.”
“You should take it now.”
She took a sip of her coffee before she said, “I think I heard it gives you cramps. Maybe wait until you’re leaving.”
“We can’t be irresponsible, Olivia.”
“I like it when you call me Liv better. No one has ever called me that before.”
“No one’s ever called me Noah,” I replied. “I like it, too.”
“Really? I figured the guys gave you that nickname.”
I shook my head. “No, my dad gave it to me when I was a kid. Even my sister calls me Ark.”
She smiled and it took my breath away. I stopped thinking about the damn pill.
“What do you want to do today?” I asked, running my fingers through her dark hair, loving the silky feeling of it, remembering the way it felt against my skin when I held her.
“We’re not going to just hang out in bed all day?”
Tempting, but no. I needed to stop thinking with my dick and that wouldn’t happen if we were lying around in a bed.
“No, I think you need a break from orgasms so that when I give them to you tonight, you’ll be more appreciative.”
She giggled and it was a sound I didn’t think I had ever heard her make. Everything between me and Olivia was always a fight. A battle of wills. If she’d had pigtails, I would have pulled on them. If I wasn’t a grown man, I would have put a frog under her pillow.
It was how we operated. I never thought to make her laugh.
“Can we go to a movie?” she asked like she was asking me for diamonds.
“Not a chick flick,” I said.
“Not a horror film,” she amended.
“Deal,” I grunted.
In the end we saw an action movie. I bought her Milk Duds and myself popcorn. And I held her hand the entire time.
It was without a doubt our first official date and it was pretty fucking great.
