Page 81 of My Omega's Baby
“I love you too. You’re my omega and I’m ordering you to stay with me.”
He nodded slowly. “I’ll do my best.”
I tried to ignore the frantic movements of the medical team and just focused on his beautiful blue eyes. “Remember how much we used to fight?”
He snorted. “You were such a dick.”
I laughed. “So were you.”
He swallowed hard. “Somewhere along the line you seemed less annoying.”
“You’re just as annoying, only I’ve learned to love you in spite of that.”
His mouth twitched. “Fuck off.”
I leaned in and kissed him gently, and his lips were soft against mine. “You’re gonna be a great dad.”
Frowning, he looked away. “I wanted that.”
I didn’t like it when he talked in past tense. “You’re still gonna have that.”
He slid his gaze to mine. “I’m so tired.”
“Stay with me, Blade.” My voice was gruff.
He closed his eyes. “Okay.”
“I mean it.”
A line appeared between his brows. “You’re so bossy.” I patted his cheek, and he opened his eyes, looking annoyed. “Stop that.”
“No. I want you to stay awake.”
“I’m in a lot of pain. I just want to go to sleep.”
There was a commotion down by the doctor, and the cry of a baby filled the mountainside. I looked over and saw Dr. Peters cradling a wiggling baby, covered in blood. Dr. Peters looked up, and his face was filled with relief.
“He’s alive.” Dr. Peters’s voice wobbled and was hard to hear over the screaming baby.
I stared in awe, and my mouth fell open. “It’s a boy?”
“Yep.” Trina wiped her forehead with the back of her arm. “It’s a boy.”
I turned back to Blade, and he had a wide grin. “He has good lungs.” He lifted his head and peered down toward the doctor. “That’s our baby?”
A tear slid down my cheek, but I didn’t even care. I met Blade’s gaze. “You did it.”
Dr. Peters handed the baby to Trina, who began to gently wipe the blood from the child. “I need to close you up now, Blade.” He bent over and started sewing Blade’s incision.
Trina wrapped the baby in a blanket and stood. She then knelt beside Blade’s head and handed the baby toward me. With my heart pounding, I took the bundle and looked down at the baby. He was still a little mottled and purple, but his face was adorable and his eyes were bright blue.
“He has your eyes, Blade.” I lowered the baby, and Blade lifted his head to see.
“Oh, my God.” He laughed and looked at me. “That’s our baby.”
I smiled down at the child and then up at Dr. Peters. “You were amazing, Doc.”
He exhaled and shook his head, cutting the suture he’d used to sew Blade’s incision. “You boys had me worried.”
