“So you see nothing wrong with kissing him?”
“We didn’t kiss. At least, not in the way you’re implying.” He grimaced. “You’re overreacting.”
“You kissed another guy.”
He winced when I raised my voice slightly. “He was drunk.”
I stood, feeling sick. “I guess that makes it fine, then?”
“No.” He stared up at me. “He was drunk and feeling grateful to me for saving his life.”
“Hey, lots of my clients are grateful to me, but they don’t kiss me.”
“He’s a demonstrative type of guy.”
“I’ll bet.”
“Wyatt, come on.”
I took a step back. “Did you fuck him?”
“What?” He looked insulted. “Why would you ask me that?”
I pointed to the photo. “Because you spent two days in a hotel with the guy, and there’s a picture of you kissing. Why wouldn’t I ask that?”
He hardened his jaw. “First of all, he kissed me on thecheek. Secondly, I’m not attracted to guys.” His expression wavered. “Other than you.”
“Yeah, right.” The alpha part of me was furious and feeling territorial. I wanted to scream at him that he was mine and I wasn’t going to share him with anyone. But I clamped my mouth shut so I didn’t do that. I knew Blade would react horribly if I got too pushy with him.
He stood slowly, his expression wary. “He’s a nice guy, but I’m not attracted to him.”
I stared at him, uncertain if I believed him.
He sighed. “I’m many things, Wyatt. But I’m not a liar. If I was going to screw around, I’d tell you upfront.”
“Unless you got carried away by the heat of the moment,” I snapped.
His irritable expression changed slightly, and he looked more exasperated than mad. “I swear to you I have no interest in Riley West.”
I pushed a hand through my hair, feeling a little calmer because he seemed so sincere. “I don’t like that picture,” I growled. “Not one bit.”
He stepped closer. “I get it. I’d be pissed too if our positions were reversed.”
I lowered my chin and watched him under my brow.
He touched my arm. “I was hoping tonight you and I could talk about us.” He swallowed. “I think that’s way more important than Riley West.”
“What about us?” I held my breath.
“Things like where we are heading?” I sighed. “We don’t have much time before we’ll be going to the mountains, and I don’t want to go there until I have some idea of where we stand.”
“Okay.”
“It makes me stressed with things up in the air.”
“You should know where I stand.” I held his nervous gaze. “I’ve made it clear I’m in this with you.”
“But in this how?”
