Story: Mated to the Kings

Volis

W e’ve been sitting here in the same spot for days now. They come by every other day and feed us this flavorless bullshit. We are all getting weaker. If it weren’t for the lack of nutritious food, the collars would have also blocked our ability to shift or use magic.

Kira is such a tiny creature; she is getting weaker quicker than the rest of us. I keep trying to give her my lame amount of food, but she refuses it. One time she threatened to not eat until I did. I love that she is strong and independent, but I wish she would just take the damn food.

“Kira, please just take it,” I say in a hushed tone.

“No,” she frowns.

“Why?”

“Because I’m not letting you go hungry. Eat it, or I’ll throw mine across the room,” she threatens.

“You would not,” I say.

“Ask me one more time and find out,” she says, daring me to test her. I narrow my eyes at her, and she smiles sweetly at me.

“Fine,” I huff. She wins again, this time.

“Thank you,” she says softly, as she begins eating her food.

“I just don’t like seeing you so weak,” I admit.

“I know, I’m stronger than I look, you know,” she says softly. “Thank you for saving them.”

“I fucked up. We weren’t supposed to go in without my sister,” I say. “Now she’s in more danger.”

“Lilith?” she asks, and I nod. “Yeah, that freak, Zypher, he likes to talk a lot to Morwen about her.”

“What do they say?” I ask curiously, eating my food. This isn’t exactly how I pictured spending the first week with my mate, but I’ll take what I can get.

“She’s your little sister?”

“Yeah,” I reply. “Why?”

“I don’t think you want me repeating what he has been saying, Volis,” she says.

“It can’t be any worse than what he’s already done to her,” I shrug.

“Well… Zypher and Morwen want to make her like… a sex slave. They have all these plans of how they’ll break her down. It’s…”

“Bad. I know,” I say. “She was his maiden for five years. He would let his entire pack assault her for years.”

“At the same time?” she asks, wide-eyed.

“Mhmm. Lilith said that it was once a month, at a minimum. He would just let them do their thing for hours. Throw her to the wolves, so to speak.”

“That poor girl.” Her frown deepens. “And she’s a witch?”

“Yeah,” I say. “She’s half succubus also.”

“I’m sorry that you got tricked,” she says softly.

“It’s okay. I’m kind of glad it happened. I managed to get everyone but you out of here.”

“I go where you go if you want me,” she says.

“What do you mean, if I want you?” I ask with a frown.

“I’m just a fox, Volis,” she sighs, her tone giving her away. “It’s okay to reject me. I will understand,” she says sincerely.

“You are more than just a fox,” I lean in and whisper in her ear. “You are my mate, Kira. Mine… just like I am yours. I hate that this is how we met, but those are the cards we were dealt. As soon as we get out of here, I’ll show you just how much I want you.” I kiss her cheek quickly, and she’s grinning and flushed when I pull away.

“How old are you?” she asks.

“How old are you?” I ask, narrowing my eyes at her.

“Nineteen,” she says sheepishly as she peeks up at me through her eyelashes.

“I don’t know how to take that,” I chuckle. “I’m thirty-three.”

“An older man,” she grins. “I do have a thing for older men. I guess you could say I have kind of a daddy kink,” she winks and giggles softly.

“You are just full of sass, aren’t you?” I ask, and she grins. Her face drops suddenly, the light fading from her eyes. She moves away quickly when the door swings open. So intuitive, my little spitfire girl is. It is no wonder she has survived. Zypher and Morwen come in and look giddy.

“Are you ready to see your little sister? What was your name again? Volleyball? Vol… Ah, who cares?” Zypher laughs as he comes over to me.

“I don’t think you understand what she is capable of,” I say simply.

“Oh… I know exactly what she’s capable of. She can take a cock better than any whore I’ve ever fucked,” he grins, licking his lips and thrusting his hips into the air. I shake my head in disgust.

“Your funeral,” I shrug. “Even if you get ahold of her, she will still kill you.”

“I’d love to see that little bitch try,” Morwen laughs.

“Did our mom fight you when you raped and killed her? Did you get mad when she wouldn’t give up her newborn?” I ask, and Morwen narrows his eyes at me.

“Who is your mother?” he asks.

“Go fuck yourself,” I spit at his feet. Morwen turns and spins, pulling a pistol from his holster.

“Woah. Stop,” I say when he puts it to Kira’s head.

“Who is your mother?” He repeats again, slower, as if I had a comprehension problem. I don’t; I just don’t like assholes, but this isn’t worth losing Kira over.

“Ashara Deverell,” I say, and he lowers the gun.

“I remember her,” he says, a demented smile twisting his lips. “She’s the one who bled like a stuck pig, right?”

“That’s what happens when you fuck a bitch who just had a baby,” Zypher cackles. “Let’s get ready to give Lilith a proper greeting, huh?”

“I can’t wait to see the look on her face when she finds out Fermin is the one who sold her out,” Morwen says as they walk away.

“How are you so confident that she will be able to kill him?” Kira asks.

“She’s basically the most powerful witch,” I say. “She could take down everything if she wanted to… but she’s still just learning to get the hang of things.”

“So… He’s a dead man walking?” she asks.

“Oh, his heart stopped the moment he met her,” I say, staring at the door that Zypher left out of.
