“I can’t get pregnant right now!” Her jaw drops and stays open until I want to stick my finger in her mouth.
“Sure you can.”
“No!” She’s breathless, panting. Like this is exactly what she wants… “I’m on birth control. It should be effective by now.”
“Uh… Well…”
Whiskey eyes narrow as she scans me behind her face shield. “Uh, well, what?”
“Would you be mad if I said I fucked with them? Replaced them all with your sugar pills?”
Her palms shove against my chest, but I’m not letting her get away. “Fuck, yes, I would be! Let me go!” Even as she fights it,her thighs clamp tighter around me, like her body can’t decide whether to flee or fuse.
“Never.”
“Ryan! I cannot believe you did that. How am I going to finish my degree while pregnant?” A little sob catches in the back of her throat.
“Women do it all the time. Besides, I’ll take care of you and our kids. You won’t have to want for anything. Bet your mom and mine will be happy to pitch in, too. We’ll make a nice bassinet in the RV. It’ll be fun travelling with six kids in our mobile home. Do you think it’s twins?”
She scoffs, rage clogging the mic with static and spit. Then she rips off my helmet and slaps me so hard it echoes—until I chuckle through the sting.
“Fuck! You are a beast, woman.” My jaw loosens as I grip my cheeks to try to work out the pain.
Fingers dig into my pecs, her nails cutting through the skin like knives. “I feel sick. I’m going to break your nose if you don’t let me off this bike.”
I lift off her helmet to find her blazing eyes narrowed at me. “I didn’t.”
“You didn’t what?” She freezes, and the hope that fills her expression makes my lips curl up into a smile.
“I didn’t replace them. But,god, do I want to.”
The look of pure vehemence on her face is enough to cause a riotous laugh to erupt from my belly into the dark night under a canopy of stars.
“You’re sadistic. I am so fucking mad.” And I can tell by the red that coats her skin, all the way up her neck.
“I love you, Pen. I do. As soon as you let me put my baby in you, I’m going to do it.”
“It may be never at this point,” she grumbles.
My fingers brush her hair over her shoulders. “Don’t make me change your pills, then.”
With a sneer, she shakes her head with exasperation. But then she’s reaching up and smoothing the skin of my cheek where she hit me. “Sorry about this. I shouldn’t have.”
“Nah, you should have.”
Lips form a tight line as she thinks for a moment, then responds, “Well, I’m not really sorry.”
“Our first fight. I’m sure it won’t be our last, and I’m glad it happened while I’m still inside you.” I canter my hips up, my softening dick sliding out of her, along with everything I spilled.
“I need a ride home, so I’ll allow you to take me, but I’m not convinced I’ll stay.”
The shock of her words hits me worse than the slap. “Are you serious?”
She shrugs and slips off the bike, grabbing her helmet. I stop her from moving away by snagging her around the waist and pulling her into my side. “You’re not leaving me. Not now, not ever. You hear me?”
Her head tilts, a threatening gaze locking onto mine and making me shiver in the best way. “Then listen up, Cardell. You better make up for scaring me tonight. I mean it. Or that little slap will feel like nothing. I’ll go frigid on you. Make you beg and pant like a dog to get some touch. Do you hearme?”
I hold back another chuckle at her fierceness. It’s what I love most about her, and I have no doubt she would do exactly as she says.
