Page 19 of Losing My Siren Luna
“You twit,”Killian snarls at me.
“I know,”I groaned, leaning back against the stone wall and sliding down it, my hope of recovering the evening and apologizing all but gone.
She thinks I called those women here. I know she does. Why wouldn’t she? I’m fucking up this chance just as much as I fucked up my first.
“Alpha?” Cherum says in surprise as he rounds the stone steps. “Luna said….I thought you were with the night ladies. What are you doing here?”
I growled at his question, scowling up at him from where I was slumped on the floor. “I will never touch those women again.”
He scratches the back of his neck, messing up his already messy red locks, before pulling on his full, bushy beard. “So Nilo wasn’t lying? She is your mate?” Cherum asks, nodding in the direction of Lira’s door.
“She’s mine,” Killian growls through me, baring my teeth possessively.
He holds his hands up in defense. “I get it, Alpha. Jeez. I was just wondering, since it seems like she wants nothing to do with you or this pack. She doesn’t even want to change rooms. Don’t know why. You put her in the shittiest part of the castle. It’s still summer and I’m freezing my nuts off up here. If she really wants to stay up here, I’ll have someone come patch the holes in the walls and make repairs to the tower tomorrow. Don’t need my Luna freezing come winter.”
“She’s not staying up here,” I growled, “She’s coming down to my floor. Whatever I have to do, I want her closer to me.”
“But she said-”
“I DON’T CARE WHAT SHE SAID!” I yelled. She’s mine, and I won’t be able to sleep at night with her this far from me.
“Shit. Okay, Alpha. I got it. I’ll get her maids to move her since she won’t allow me to help. Who is her handmaiden anyway?”
I grimaced slightly, knowing he wouldn’t like my answer. “Niomi.”
“The old lady?! Why? Why would you assign to her someone of such low rank? She was a kitchen maid, right?”
“Laundry, I think.” I’m not sure what Niomi was doing before. She was too old to do anything significant, which was why I originally assigned her to Lira. “Get her a new handmaiden. Someone who can be her friend and who has more authority in the pack.”
“You got it, Alpha,” he says, reaching down to help pull me up to my feet.
Chapter 7
Elelira POV
When I came to my room, mentally exhausted and ready to retire for the evening, the Delta of the pack was waiting outside, looking about ready to enter the room for whatever reason.
“Why is he here? He didn’t acknowledge us before. Why is he continually trying to get involved with us this time?”Val asked me.
“I’m not sure. Much has changed this time. It’s a lost cause if he is trying to fulfill his task as my Delta. Lachlan obviously hasn’t changed.”
Val whimpers, thinking about the women that surrounded Lachlan back in the reception hall. They all seemed more than familiar with him. I guess it comes with their line of work. Intimate and personal knowledge of him is something I will never possess. Watching the women paw all over him, I’m grateful I won't. I’m not here to intrude on their domain. It makes me sick to think about being with him after all of them have had him.
I left the reception early last time. Did he invite those women to our wedding the first time too? Is that where he disappeared after his Beta gave that awful speech?
I’m still holding the necklace he gave me. I probably should have given it back, but the magic in it is calling to me, urging me to keep it. I grip it tighter as I approach the pack’s Delta.
After telling him I have no plans on moving rooms, or having any closer relationship with his alpha, I go inside my room, alone at last, and begin stripping out of this reception dress.
I just managed to unbutton the last button on the back, letting the dress fall to the floor, when I hear Lachlan yelling outside of my room.
Still wearing my slip, I pull a dressing robe from my bed and wrap it around my body before slightly cracking the door to find out what is happening.
I just wanted a moment of peace away from him, but it seems Lachlan is set on making this life hell for me as well.
“I DON’T CARE WHAT SHE SAID! She’s mine, and I won’t be able to sleep at night with her this far from me.”
Who is he talking about? Is he referring to me?
