AVRIL
“So this room—this is for you.” David was scratching the back of his head.
The room was a bit small. Obviously it was cozy with fluffy blankets and painted a soft pastel blue. There was also a suspicious number of pillows on the puffy sofa with assorted types of covers.
I mean it was nice and all… The overall effect of the room was that it felt less like a room and more like a cloud. Don’t get me wrong—David did a great job on it and all.
I just don’t get what the room was for. There was already the bedroom where I was going to sleep next to my man. It’s not like David got his own mini comfy room, so why did he have this room for—oh.
All of a sudden the meaning of the room clicked.
“Wait. Is this a nest?” I sighed.
I didn’t even need to confirm with David, as he looked about the room as if the answers were written in the fabric somewhere. Now that I got it, it was obvious. It was a standard part of any alpha’s home to get a nest for their omega. So I guess this fluffy little cloud room was mine now.
What the fuck am I supposed to do with a nest? Lay an egg in it?
“I mean, it is nice, I guess—Cozy. I could see myself reading here. This is where my book boyfriends are going to live.”
Oh, shit. Had I said that out loud? I hadn’t really meant to say that out loud.
But David just raised an eyebrow.
“Book boyfriends ?” David emphasized the ‘s’ in boyfriends—like it was the fact that there was more than one of them that was potentially an issue.
It’s not like he had to worry about it. David was never going to get to meet them—my reading history was between me and God. “You got a reverse harem already?”
“Yeah…” was this my first red flag? Was he going to be absolutely awful about this? This was why it was important to have a long engagement, and really know the person you were marrying. If he suddenly pulled out some incel bullshit and tried to control me—
David smirked as he pulled me close against his chest, with a teasing look in his eyes.
“So does that mean all of your book boyfriends are going to be hard at work getting you in the mood for me?”
Yeah. This right here? This is exactly why I married David.
