Page 77 of Kiss and Tell
“Is it before noon?” he grunted.
“Yes.”
He groaned and rolled over, planting his face in the pillows.
I laughed and pulled the sheets from the bed, leaving him stark naked. I swatted at his bare butt, enjoying the flex of those tight muscles as his body reacted.
“We’ve got work to do today,” I told him.
He shifted on the bed until his head was resting on my thighs. He looked up at me from his position on my lap.
“Can we play hooky today?” he asked. “Just stay home? Preferably in bed?”
The look in his eyes was hopeful, like a puppy dog begging for a treat. It almost broke my resolve. I ran my hands through his thick hair, pushing it back from his temples and revealing his gorgeous, sleep-flushed face.
“As much as I’d love a repeat of last night, we’ve got to paint the walls before the fixtures arrive.” I made sure to project regret and mourning in my tone, letting him know I wanted to stay at home just as much as him.
But we were on a timeline and couldn’t afford to fall behind. Besides, we had every night and weekend to spend together.
The thought sent a spark of joy chasing through me. Spending my free time with Connor was infinitely better than spending my non-work hours curled up in my bed re-reading my favorite Jane Austen books for the twentieth time.
Connor let out a heavy sigh, sounding put upon, and lumbered up to sit next to me on the bed. He grabbed his coffee and chugged half of it in one swig.
“How did you not burn your mouth off?” I asked. “That thing just came out of the machine.”
“I’m made of sterner stuff,” he said. “A little hot coffee can’t stop me.”
With one hand holding his mug, he used the other to tug me into his side. I rested my chin on his shoulder, breathing deeply of his sleepy-warm scent.
“How are you feeling this morning?” he asked. “Any sore muscles?”
I gave him a bear hug with both arms wrapped around his chest.
“I feel fantastic,” I said. “You’re amazing.”
“That would be you.” He took another gulp of coffee. “You’re still on board with this whole thing?”
“You mean, the two of us being together?” I asked. “Yes. I have my worries, of course. We can’t tell anyone, not until long after this job is over. There can’t be any hint of impropriety. But I have no reservations about being with you.” I squeezed him tight. “I don’t have any regrets.”
“I’ll make sure you never do.” Connor kissed my temple and ruffled my hair. “What do you say we shower and get ready?”
A sudden thought entered my mind.
“Maybe we could shower together?” I peeked up at him through my lashes. “I mean, we are running late, after all. It would save time.”
“Would it, now?” He nudged my nose with his. “I suppose I could share my shower with you. Just don’t run the water scalding hot. I know that’s a girl thing.”
“I thought you were made of sterner stuff?” I asked. “Besides, that’s a stereotype. Not all girls like burning hot showers.”
“Do you?”
“Well… yes,” I admitted. “But that doesn’t make it true for all girls.”
“I’m sure we can find a compromise between lukewarm and the fires of hell,” he replied.
Connor pulled me up from the bed and dragged me down the hallway into his bathroom, stripping me of his shirt and boxers along the way. He turned on the water and let me test it with a hand before climbing in. It wasn’t as hot as I would have preferred it, but Connor flinched as he got in, so I supposed it was the best we could hope for.
We soaped each other up, running our hands all over each other’s skin. I covered Connor’s back and chest with layers of suds and he made sure my breasts were squeaky clean. His cock began to grow hard. He grabbed my ass and pulled me closer, that stiff length poking into my hip.
